jrh68uk Posted April 2, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) A relatively large fleck of something white has suddenly appeared and is now stuck to the surface of the viewfinder element which is behind the front window. Obviously I can't see it when I look through the finder from the back but, from the front, it's very visible. Cosmetic problem only, I know, but I just find it annoying I suspect I'll either have to wait to see whether more jostling makes it move out of sight, or have the MP serviced (which it doesn't really need right now). Just wondering if anyone knows whether a rocket-blow from somewhere in particular might help... I've tried blowing upwards towards it but the thing won't shift, so I guess it's pretty well sealed. Advertisement Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Hi jrh68uk, Take a look here MP viewfinder fleck. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Xmas Posted April 2, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 2, 2010 It will probably go away or move by itself... If you are right eyed it is a good excuse to always keep the left eye open as this will tend to make it vanish, in your perception, and will also improve your perception of the scene you are about to capture... jrh68uk Posted April 4, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted April 4, 2010 Thanks Noel. Yeah, it will probably move somewhere else eventually. Like I said, I can't see it when I look through to take pics; it's visible from the front and just irritates me a little as I want to blast it away but can't Cheers, Jason
Penzes Posted April 4, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 4, 2010 Probably something to do with humidity? I saw a quite large white fleck after a rainy day in the MP viewfinder of a fellow photographer. Hair-dryer solved the problem. Do you have a picture of it?
Xmas Posted April 4, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 4, 2010 airing cupboard overnight should do it, if it is condensation, if you are fussy. But you should try and avoid condensation as it will annoy the internal lubricants, eventually. Noel
jrh68uk Posted April 5, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted April 5, 2010 No, it's not condensation. It's a fleck of dust - just a relatively large one. I'll get used to it
250swb Posted April 7, 2010 Share #7 Posted April 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I thought I would get used to the fleck that appeared in MP viewfinder. It was even at the edge, but once seen it was like an eye magnet. I sent it back to Solm's through my dealer. Steve
Xmas Posted April 8, 2010 Share #8 Posted April 8, 2010 Well I find the little Star Trek view panel lights distressingly distracting, but I'd a not sent it back to Solms, unless it was broke. Noel
jrh68uk Posted April 9, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted April 9, 2010 No, I'm not sending it in just for that. It's annoying, it spoils the look a touch (it's a beautiful a-la-carte, used, ca. 2004, and pretty much the exact recipe I'd choose if I were to order a new one) but it doesn't affect functionality one bit. I just find it irritating that I can't use my rocket blower to blast it away. Never mind. Cheers
