snaggs Posted April 1, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ok, just unboxed and played with the 75mm 1. this lens is a doddle to focus! Its easier than my 35mm Summicron, I really don't understand the reports on this. 2. its tiny! I read these reports about how big and brutal it was. Its tiny and light! I think some of you guys need to borrow a D3 and 200 f/2 and then come back and have a discussion. Its half the size of a Nikon equivalent, a third of the size of the Canon 85L, the polizer and lens hood on my 85L is bigger and heavier than this lens! 3. Wow, image quality really is out of this world. At this moment I can say I'm very happy with having hocked off my entire Nikon collection to buy a M9 and this lens. Owning this lens is cheating Life is too short! Daniel.

snaggs Posted April 1, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted April 1, 2010 Just the kids running round playing rugby, but they keep turning out like this... The only lens I've had which renders like this was my Nikon 200 f/2, which was highly impractical! I've done some comparisons with the 85L, 135L and 105 f/2 DC and 85mm f/1.4 AI-S (nikons best ever), and the lux is ahead. The difference is not in the background bokeh, its in the transition from in-focus to out-focus which is gentle and gives a glow. I'm really really happy that such a small lens can deliver like it does. Daniel.

Yes--the only one that renders equally beautifully in my opinion near the same focal length on an SLR is the 80 R Lux Leica... but it's relatively big compared with the 75 Lux. But for the reason people call the 75 Lux big you have to shoot an M 1.4 50 Lux or 50 'cron--which are miniscule by comparison! Even my 90 Cron is smaller than the 75 Lux It's all relative... jsjxyz Posted April 1, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 1, 2010 Happy to hear this I also love this lens so dearly, I used to use Nikkor 85mm F/1.4 manual focus lens. One picture I took from a mall in Indonesia. Jerry
topoxforddoc Posted April 1, 2010 Share #6 Posted April 1, 2010 Daniel, Yup, you're so right. I have both R and M systems. The 75 lux is just a fab lens, as is my 80 lux R. OK, they're not lenses I would want to do sport with, but they're great for stage work inc dance where everyone's moving. It is massive compared to my 35 pre-asph lux, but tiny compared to my 180 Summicron R. But like everything in life, it's not about the size, but how you use it! Best wishes,
