Guest Posted March 28, 2010 Share #41 Posted March 28, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Having Crons Asph of 35 and 70mm and looking for a low light lens, would a Noctilux of your choice or a Nocton be an option? Cheers!
Advertisement Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Hi Guest, Take a look here Summilux 50mm f1.4 ASPH in Chrome. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
M9n Posted March 28, 2010 Author Share #42 Posted March 28, 2010 Hello Tri, Mmmm - Noctilux of my choice . . . but hey, got to stop dreaming, waaay beyond my reach! Perhaps when my lottery numbers come up? Nokton is certainly good proposal as it is supposed to have very good performance for its price. Although here in the UK it is virtually 1/2 the price of the Summilux 50mm ASPH, it is still a major investment. The size issue with these 2 super fast 50s is a further consideration, so in my mind I am thinking I would be better investing in the Summilux as it is probably the best compromise of speed, performance, size and price in the long run. The 70cm close focus limit is important to me and the Summilux should also have similar colour balance to my other lenses. Thanks for the suggestions anyway. digitalfx Posted March 29, 2010 Share #43 Posted March 29, 2010 I must be mad - There is nothing wrong with a silver lens on a black body imo. I love the engraving on top, what did that cost and how long did it take? Is that the standard Leica strap? Where did you get the leather bumpers? thrice Posted March 29, 2010 Share #44 Posted March 29, 2010 Put my black painted dot on today I wonder why Leica don't offer it as a purchaseable add-on, I much prefer the look.
jaapv Posted March 29, 2010 Share #45 Posted March 29, 2010 I love the engraving on top, what did that cost and how long did it take? Is that the standard Leica strap? Where did you get the leather bumpers? It took one week, but that is a bit unpredictable, as it has to be slotted between the production of new cameras, so one needs to make an appointment. I dont recall the price exactly, it must have been something under 200 Euro. I will look it up. I don't know where the bumpers come from, it may have been a Digilux2. Edit 172,40 Euro. Shade Posted March 29, 2010 Share #46 Posted March 29, 2010 Guys, I just bought a chrome lux - and I tell you, its sharp at all apertures, andddd.. The solid feel of chrome lenses makes the black ones kinda plasticy (seriously!). I own a black 35 lux, and feels very flimsy..

Shade Posted March 30, 2010 Share #51 Posted March 30, 2010 Guys - don't get me wrong. I also own a black 35 lux... They're VERY well built. They're very very good indeed. But I just find my 50 chrome EXTRA solid, EXTRA well built. Holding the chrome side by side with the black "makes the black feel" flimsy.

SJP Posted March 30, 2010 Share #55 Posted March 30, 2010 Jaap(v) let me use his chrome 50 lux-A last sunday at the Dutch meeting, this lens is addictive. Not perfect but close enough:
jaapv Posted March 30, 2010 Share #56 Posted March 30, 2010 And note: Just a random Summilux on a random M8 body - perfect focus. It should put the myth of "adjusting the body and the lens to one another" to bed.

eleanorbrown Posted April 5, 2010 Share #59 Posted April 5, 2010 Does anyone have any idea why this 50 lux asph is not available. Is there a problem with production? Many thanks, Eleanor PS- actually I'm looking for the lens in black.
menos I M6 Posted April 5, 2010 Share #60 Posted April 5, 2010 Does anyone have any idea why this 50 lux asph is not available. Is there a problem with production? Many thanks, EleanorPS- actually I'm looking for the lens in black. Because it is sooooo good, that everybody wants to have one And everybody can't have one, as Leica production capacity is limited. There is only placing an order and wait. You won't regret it (if you like the modern, clean, sharp, contrasty look of the newest ASPH lenses).
