jjjjuin Posted March 27, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm thinking paint the 'ugly' steel grey with silver color. So the M9 will be look like the MP chrome's silver color. Anyone tried before? OR any comments? Thanks ----- Kevin
Advertisement Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Hi jjjjuin, Take a look here has anyone tried paint the grey part silver/chrome??. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
brill64 Posted March 27, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 27, 2010 why not? it would ruin the re-sale value not to mention being a ridiculous idea. hypothetically speaking, you can replace the baseplate with a silver one from an m8 and same goes for the m8 top plate too but that is a little more complex and should be done by a qualified technician. i don't think the m8 top plate display could be made to work and of course, it would say m8 nd not m9 which brings me back to re-sale value and ridiculous idea.. andybarton Posted March 27, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 27, 2010 There are people who will dismantle the camera for you, strip the finish right back to the bare metal and then repaint the parts any colour you like. Whether that's a good thing to do, is entirely up to you. It's your camera.

AlanJW Posted March 27, 2010 Share #8 Posted March 27, 2010 sounds like my parents' saying when I was in school. Sometimes parents can be wise. If your Leica is a fashion accessory, paint it as you please. Silver, gold, gold flakes, shiny chrome, or anything else that pleases you and/or impresses your friends. If it is a tool for making images, make pictures that impress your friends.

Marty Posted March 27, 2010 Share #10 Posted March 27, 2010 I think it is a great idea, not everybody likes the grey, me included. Good luck.
