rhom Posted March 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, I just purchased my first Leica, a mint very late production number M8! Should be here in a week or so. This is after months of reading your threads, researching terms and issues that I hadn't known about, and oogling over the many incredible M8 images that this group has posted. I agonized over M8 vs. M8.2 vs. M9, but decided that my needs will be perfectly served by a M8. Encountering a mint example from a reputable dealer helped a great deal, too. Had to jump in here myself, sometime! Photography has been my hobby for many years and I have always admired Leicas and the images that these cameras are capable of producing. Now that my wife and I are beginning to do some vacation traveling, a digital M makes good sense to me. I'll be buying a couple of lenses, thinking of 28mm and 21mm at the moment. Have to confess that I like the look that some of Leica's classic LTM lenses give, so I'll be looking at some of these. I'm looking forward to making some great images with my new toy! Thanks for all that you taught me. I've still got a lot to learn, but maybe I can make a few contributions on this forum in the future. Best Wishes, Rick

Islandmike Posted March 25, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 25, 2010 Hope you'll be as pleased with yours as I am with mine. About 4 months in, the DSLR is feeling neglected and I'm loving Leica and CV lenses. Cheers Mike
Revdockj Posted March 25, 2010 Share #6 Posted March 25, 2010 Enjoy! After nearly three years I'm still enjoying mine. Even after getting an M9, I still use my M8 with 28mm elmarit as an all-purpose runabout outfit. Take it everywhere. Ken

h00ligan Posted March 26, 2010 Share #8 Posted March 26, 2010 I looked into getting one today - the asking price for a previously owned was $3200 for an m8 (not specified as m8.2) which seemed pretty steep to me. Does anyone have reputable places from which to source at a good price - or is my price-o-meter off? I thought they were nearer $2500 than $3500
