Advertisement Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Hi sharookh, Take a look here I Love My LEICA X1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
JanCderidder Posted August 14, 2010 Share #342 Posted August 14, 2010 I can't compliment you on the composition and color etc merely due to the fact that I have no knowledge of these things what so ever, but I really like the image ...
ravinj Posted August 14, 2010 Share #343 Posted August 14, 2010 This shot was taken this afternoon. Stunning Camera!! Lovely image Sharookh - "kamaal ka camera hai". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A bar in Amsterdam. I love the fact that X1 is so silent and small. Welcome, dear visitor! clair-obscur Posted August 14, 2010 Share #344 Posted August 14, 2010 This shot was taken this afternoon. Stunning Camera!! Hello sharookh, It's a fine picture, but the image has a red color cast. That's caused by the absence of an sRGB color profile. Save the picture again with an sRGB color profile (a must to display pictures on the internet) and the picture looks, in my opinion, much more natural. sikde Posted August 15, 2010 Share #345 Posted August 15, 2010 Nice shot, Sharookh! Did you add any vignetting?
sharookh Posted August 15, 2010 Share #346 Posted August 15, 2010 Jan, Ravini, Claire, Sikde - Thanks for your comments. I'm glad you like the image - but full credit to the X-1 for capturing exactly what I saw, and so sharp!!!
sharookh Posted August 15, 2010 Share #347 Posted August 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Nice shot, Sharookh! Did you add any vignetting? Yes I did, just in case you felt the lens had a vignetting problem. I think the optic is superlative!
BB W Posted August 15, 2010 Share #348 Posted August 15, 2010 Sharookh, that is great portrait and what perfect detail and color! Very impressive. The color looks great to me on my MacBook Pro. ravinj, I like your bar/restaurant scene - and agree it's wonderful to have both a small and quiet camera. Wonderful to be so unobtrusive. ravinj Posted August 16, 2010 Share #350 Posted August 16, 2010 Hey hey hey!!! Roaming Amsterdam bars with the X1 is my turf! Get out !! Just a joke as I live there... :-D Hey, I was there for only a day trip. Loved YOUR city. Very friendly people and very classy ladies, I must add! The whole city was decked up for the gay parade the day I went there (pic attached - I was a bit too late to grab a prime spot). It was good to see such an amazing place teeming open minded, friendly folks. I will need to plan a second visit sometime next year. Welcome, dear visitor! ravinj Posted August 21, 2010 Share #351 Posted August 21, 2010 I thought it be good take a break from the meaningless debate of Nex versus X1. Two reasons why I love the X1: both pictures are from a bird park in Germany. Welcome, dear visitor! davidhunternyc Posted August 21, 2010 Share #352 Posted August 21, 2010 (edited) Wow, generally I really dislike photos of flowers and butterflies, being such cliches as they are, but the color, focus, bokeh, and delicacy of this moth resting on daises is unusually beautiful. It is very interesting also to see the color of the stamen and petals of the flowers repeated in the moths wings. BB W Posted August 21, 2010 Share #353 Posted August 21, 2010 Lovely - both of them, but I especially like the cone flowers with the butterfly. Clichés aside, flowers are beautiful and seeing them, especially, with this amazing butterfly makes them even more so. Thanks so much ravinj.
phancj Posted August 21, 2010 Share #354 Posted August 21, 2010 Wow, Ravinj, awesome! Guess you are right, I am getting out of the dumb Nex5 discussion too, was trying to let potential buyers know how it really is according to my experience with it, lest some overzealous owners of it praise it to the moon causing confusion. Will concentrate on making great pictures....may convert my Nikon mount to take Leica R lenses too, for the kick of it, apart from having fun with my X1 still.. Yours pics are great, thanks! JanCderidder Posted August 21, 2010 Share #356 Posted August 21, 2010 as for colors, I too dislike flowers and stuff that moves, but one has to notice the colors they are indeed brilliant and realistic Welcome, dear visitor! JanCderidder Posted August 21, 2010 Share #357 Posted August 21, 2010 .... or then even the lack of colors and the X1's rendition of "warm-tones" or whatever they might be called Welcome, dear visitor! davidhunternyc Posted August 21, 2010 Share #358 Posted August 21, 2010 as for colors, I too dislike flowers and stuff that moves, but one has to notice the colors they are indeed brilliant and realistic You know, since we are talking about realistic floral colors out of the X1, yes, I agree with you that the colors are brilliant but I don't think they are realistic. I have been looking at quite a few photos on here with green foliage and they all have a brighter new spring quality that I don't think is realistic in most natural settings. It is the middle of August in New York and that new spring green has passed. The green foliage in the park, across the street from where I live, is now a darker, denser green. Yet, a couple of weeks ago I shot this photo below. The camera was set on the standard default color setting and was shot in RAW. Notice just how new looking the greens are. It looks like May, not August.
JanCderidder Posted August 21, 2010 Share #359 Posted August 21, 2010 David, I agree with you on green grass and trees and bushes in nature, I always struggle with them, both in OOC Jpeg as in PP'ing especially when the green overwhelms the image it seems, well, not quite the correct green. I have always had this with any camera I have ever used. I have this with color and color positive on my M4 and M6, I have this with my M8 and with the Nikon.... greens are always off so it seems, and never can be gotten 1:1 correctly rendered in PP'ing (not that I have much PP'ing experience) Since "the Greens" have always disturbed me I try to refrain from shooting them at all, but sometimes you just can't get around Greens being part of an image. ... I dislike the color green to start off with..... I had similar problems with Red on the M8 (slightly off) and on the Nikon (completely off, unless over saturated) but have managed to keep that under control. Is green generally a difficult color to shoot realistically?
RichardM8 Posted August 21, 2010 Share #360 Posted August 21, 2010 I really like the image from the church(?) Jan. I'm going through a few hundred shots from my vacation right now and I think the AWB tends to lean towards cool/ slightly blue-ish in shots with overcast daylight. Not all but quite a few. All DNGs btw. The flower shot above shows this too although I didn't see the actual scene. At least to my eyes, on my (calibrated) screen. The interior shot seems right.
