Guest WPalank Posted March 19, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 19, 2010 Your Shutter Speed Setting dial is no longer on "A" or Aperture Priority.
k-hawinkler Posted March 19, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 19, 2010 Your Shutter Speed Setting dial is no longer on "A" or Aperture Priority. That did prohibit bracketing also on the old FW. My observation.

Kr Matt Matt, Not stupid at all. Another Forum member assumed that it only worked in "C" mode. The bracketing mode works in both "S" and "C". And yes k-h, that's how it worked in the previous firmware as well.

250swb Posted March 20, 2010 Share #10 Posted March 20, 2010 There is still a bug in the new firmware bracket function though, but its not happened often enough yet to make me sure what is triggering it. In the previous firmware when in 'S' mode the camera went to sleep for a while and you had to wake it up before making an exposure or it would only make one image instead of a bracket sequence. But if you only got a single shot the next press of the shutter would give you the expected bracket sequence. Ok, that may be a 'characteristic' so you get used to it. But with the new firmware I have found that something like this happens. You make an exposure after a period of 'sleep' and you get one image, but instead of the next exposure giving a bracket sequence again one image is made, and so on until you half press the shutter or switch the camera off and on again and which then seems to wake the camera properly. Of course its frustrating because the camera is likely to be on a tripod for bracket exposures with the operator waiting for 'the moment', which is met with the camera firing off a single shot and needing to be re-set. becker Posted March 20, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted March 20, 2010 That it only works in A mode is a pitty, I think makes not much sense. Does it ? Kr Matt
Steve Fines Posted March 20, 2010 Share #13 Posted March 20, 2010 That it only works in A mode is a pitty, I think makes not much sense. Does it ? Kr Matt It makes no sense at all. All my Canons, Nikons, Panasonics and Sony cameras can bracket in manual mode. By not being able to bracket in manual mode this goes from being a great camera for HDR work to a pita camera for hdr work. I've written Leica a few times about fixing this - hopefully in 1.17. Marty Posted March 20, 2010 Share #14 Posted March 20, 2010 It makes sense to have it in manual mode. But it is not exactly useless in A mode, which is the only mode I have ever used it in. The meter is pretty good and it has always been possible to capture an adequate range around the automatic exposure. But yes, it should be addressed.
