Bill W Posted April 5, 2010 Share #21 Posted April 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Way back when in the early days of the M8, there were lots of folks that got a new lens for 30% off directly from Leica. I chose the Nocti.and I believe it was around $2700 at the discount. I kept it for about a year but did not use it that much so I sold it for $5000. It was coded and absolutely mint. that was about a year and a half ago. Of course now I wish I still had it.
Advertisement Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Hi Bill W, Take a look here Noctilux F/1.0 ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gwelland Posted April 5, 2010 Share #22 Posted April 5, 2010 Ditto - although a few of those were dogs from the factory. I had to get mine adjusted as it was way off - too rushed to get them out perhaps? (hard to believe, but mine wasn't even close to being accurately setup as it had significant back focus)
JWW Posted April 5, 2010 Share #23 Posted April 5, 2010 Leica lenses are funny animals in that 9 times out of ten, no matter how ridiculously expensive they seem, the prices go up if you hold on to them long enough. It makes it totally different from buying anything else (except maybe stocks) and the main danger is selling a lens, regretting it and then trying to buy it back later, for much more. I have a Noctilux and I'm reluctant to sell it due to that possible regret it later feeling and I'm sure others are too. The only reason I may part with it is to get the new ASPH version. peter_n Posted April 5, 2010 Share #24 Posted April 5, 2010 I have the first F1.0 Noctilux, with the 58mm filter thread. It didn't come with a lens hood. Does anyone know where I can get one? Thanks PeterI don't like the Leica hood (too big), so I bought a B+W screw-in hood (see pic below) but that's too big too, so then I got a heavystar 58mm wide from eBay. Perfect - nice and shallow. The Noctilux is so flare resistant you don't really need a hood and I use one just for protection... Welcome, dear visitor! Epimetheus Posted April 6, 2010 Share #25 Posted April 6, 2010 I bought one from eBay recently for 2800€. That's the cheapest I have seen in a while.

Peter Lea Posted April 7, 2010 Share #27 Posted April 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks. I found a used Leica hood 12519. I agree it's a bit big, but it's much lighter and less obtrusive than the B + W (which also vignettes badly). Peter Lea
