Display switch off

I know this issue has been addressed in an other thread but at this point in time after so many posts I'm a bit confused.

The display of my M9, after the new FW installation, switchs off after 1, 2 or 5 minuts, depending on the set, even if I'm operating on the menu or I'm reviewin pics moving cursors, pushing buttons and so on, which is not supposed to happen.

I understand this is rather a common issue but apparently some user do not have this problem.

Is my understanding correct?

I've repeted twice the FW installation and I have resetted the camera to factory defaults but the problem is still there.

BTW it is not a major issue for me but I would like to understand it.

Cheers,

Ario

I think that everybody who have the newest FW have this problem. There are a number of user not to yet have discovered it though.

There have been reports in the FW thread that the camera does not shut of properly, this seems to be a more isolated problem.

Have this with my M9, not really a problem (should be easily resolvable in a future firmware update) and I LOVE the camera. Outstanding image quality in big prints, beautiful results using Aperture with minimal post-processing and, for me (I shoot only lenses that don't require external viewfinders -- 28 through 135) no "red edge". Camera is on my shoulder now - let's go shooting..

I started the thread on this to keep the noise down. As far as I can see, everyone who has looked for a shutdown pro blem with 1.16 has observed it. Apparently the buttons on the back of the camera don't reset the "AutoOff" timer as they should. And it is suspected by a forum member who talks to Solms that they have accepted this as a bug and don't think it is hard to fix.
