silverlight99 Posted March 16, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 16, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi - I just received a vintage 1960's version 1 Summicron-M to use with my M9. The lens is in absolute mint condition cosmetically, glass flawless, and the image quality amazing. However, when making small focus adjustments the focus ring is sticky (no problem for faster or larger moves). Any suggestions? I could return it, but the few others I've seen out there don't compare to the condition of this one (but for this one, and quite important, issue). Thanks! UliWer Posted March 16, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 16, 2010 Your lens just needs some lubrication. Probably it hasn't been focussed for a very long time, so the grease got stiff. The Leica CLA could do this, but it will be expensive. Perhaps you find a reliable address elsewhere.
earleygallery Posted March 16, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 16, 2010 Any competent local camera repairer will be able to CLA your lens, almost certainly much more quickly and economically than sending it to Leica right now!
