IR photography with the M9...

I am about to buy filters again and try doing some IR with the M9. Considering there is a "stronger" IR filter on the sensor, has anybody had any experience with IR and the M9? What filters do you recommend? Any tips?

 

I tried to use it with a B&W #093 but it is to dark and I have to max out ISO and slow the M) considerably to get anything.

I don't think the M9 is very suitable for this. More like M8 territory.

It can be done - you do have to max-out ISO (at least to 1600) - but then, real IR-sensitive film usually had grain like 1600 anyway.

I was trying with the M9, Visoflex and Telyt 280 + 720Nm filter, in order to get full frame. NBG and went back to the M8. Focusing with the 280 and an IR filter is a bit hit and miss.

I remember I read somewhere M8 is 4 stop more sensitive to infrared than M9.

Filter = Hoya 92 for the daylight shot - Leitz "IR" for the later shots (not the same as the current UV/IR, an old 1970's 39mm filter).
