Edit: Apologies . I thought you were being facetious ... I was unaware of the alleged accident.

Dunk, I don't know the exact details, but the deliveries due to some, if not all, UK dealers last week did not take place because of a crate damaged, presumably between Solms and MK. I have it on good authority that around 1500 items of Leica equipment have to be individually examined in MK for a pending insurance claim. I guess there is probably quite a spread of inventory items and a proportion are probably quite OK. It is thoroughly bad luck because I was expecting my accessories in time for me to check small bag options at Focus this week. Paper templates aren't very satisfactory. But at least I have the camera, for which I am very grateful.

Not quite. During forklift maintenece someone opened the box, took out the camera and thinking it worthless anachronism, used it as a wheel chock.

Some quick thinker from Leica dispatch put his thumb over the qty column on the packing slip and solemly stated truthfully that the entire quarters production had been in the shipping accident and they were trying to determine how many slavageable units would now filter through, but that it was looking bleak. Word is someone might have used the fifty summilux from the only other box as a loupe in the low light to check the axle bearings so look out for a press release on ......
