michali Posted March 5, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sony Alpha 850 & Leica Vario-Elmar 105-280mm I'm still practicing with this kit and getting a feel for the manual exposure and WB settings. In the morning 3 days ago I came across a hippo that had been killed by another hippo during the previous night, I assume in a territorial dispute. Within 3 hours over 180 vultures of different varieties descended on the carcass. By this morning there were over 250 vultures, and more squadrons of vultures continuing to arrive in great numbers, scuffling and fighting over the carcass. Hyaenas, jackals and a couple of lions have been visiting and feeding on and off. During this time the vultures have been hanging around patiently ducking in and out. By this afternoon there are only bones and some parts of the thick hippo hide lying around. They're known as Nature's vacuum cleaners. These two are African White Backed Vultures. Thanks for viewing. AlbertoDeRoma Posted March 5, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 5, 2010 Great photo. The kind you'd see on National Geographic. I would not mind seeing a few more of the series. Alberto Minor thing, but I see some 'crud' in the background (e.g. foliage on the left) and some strange artifacts around the edges. Did you add some blurriness in PP?
