Advertisement Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Hi Guest johann_wolfgang, Take a look here playing piano for money. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted July 7, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 7, 2006 Johann - #1 in particular is superb, well seen, well caught, beaufifully framed and focused. I had an uncle who played piano for money (his life's work). He was the happiest man I've known. To quote him, "I'm getting paid to do exactly what I'd do if I didn't have to get paid." I suspect that your subject is on a different career path. You can see a similar situation (piano at a McDonalds near Wall St. in New York) on the first of my New York photo gallery pages at http://www.barbara-and-stu.com. Your shot is much better. stuny Posted July 9, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 9, 2006 Johann - Thank you for the kind words. It mystifies me why there have been so few comments on this photo posting of yours, especially #1. Stuart
Overgaard Posted July 9, 2006 Share #5 Posted July 9, 2006 Well, I don't particular like the shot for the reason it is a downgrade of music and art. What it does show however, is that there is a difference between being an entertainer and being a musician - a piano player. If you don't create the circumstances under which you will perform your art, you will end up playing piano in a mall. That is what I ind intersting about the shot. Then again, she could create an athmosphere. But it more looks like she didn't actually choose it herself. Or she did, and is just about to give up the music career... Many words about the piano player. As for the photo it shows the circumstances wery clearly. I might have wanted to create an aesthetic situation out of it. I mean, it SHOULD be a great thing that someone is playing music for others. Maybe she does not have anything to communicate to the audience with her music. Makes me wonder.
