It might be helpful to provide a pointer of some sorts to the German text. ;)

The infinity button is always the same, be the Summarit 1,5 engraved "Taylor Hobson" or not : Leitz had to put the engraving on lenses sold in certain countries, for patent reasons, but apart this the lens is always the same (I have the BM version unengraved, and the SM version with "Taylor Hobson").

Serial numbers

Cette page vous permet de trouver à quel matériel correspond un numéro de série. Le résultat est élaboré à partir de la base de données de summilux.net.

This page lets you find out which device corresponds to a given serial number. The result will be based on the data base at summilux.net.

Entrez le numéro de série et indiquez si il concerne un boîtier ou un objectif.

Enter your serial number and indicate whether it denotes a camera case or a lens.

L'objectif portant le numéro de série 491956 est un ? fabriqué en 1939

The lens identified by the serial number 491956 is a ? which has been produced in 1939. (Note that the answer actually contains a question mark, presumably indicating that the database can not determine the type of the lens.)

Le boîtier portant le numéro de série 491956 est un IIIc fabriqué en 1949

Note : Peut aussi avoir ŽtŽ fabriquŽ en 1950

The case with the serial number 491956 is a IIIc produced in 1949. Note: could also have been produced in 1950

The text is in French, not German.

Seawolf66, Google is your language friend. You can enter the url of a page you want to translate or copy and paste the text of a page or part of a page into a window. One useful feature of entering a url is that Google will translate the page the url points to and once started will automatically translate any other page you click links to from the translated page, for example the next page. :)
