Agent M10 Posted February 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking for a bag that can hold an M7 with a 75mm summicron, fountain pen, and moleskine with some extra space. This would be an everyday carry-round bag—not a "I'm going to go take pictures" bag. I want leather and no velcro. Any suggestions before I end up buying the wrong one (I have lots of bags and none of them fit this description)?
Advertisement Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Hi Agent M10, Take a look here Looking for a bag. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jacksparrow Posted February 25, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 25, 2010 Artisan & artist Elliot's everyday bag, I've had it for five years, and it's starting to look really cool. Since it's a japanese brand, I'd say wabi-sabi :-) I think it's very discrete and wouldn't call too much attention to it. You could even fit an extra lens + rolls. Photon42 Posted February 25, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 25, 2010 I've seen this one recently somewhere over at the Rangefinderforum. Looks at bit like it may fit your bill. Cheers Ivo
Leicaiste Posted February 25, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 25, 2010 I've seen this one recently somewhere over at the Rangefinderforum. Looks at bit like it may fit your bill. Nice. Should work well with the Billingham Hadley Small insert. http://www.billingham.co.uk/acatalog/Accessories.html
JHAG Posted February 26, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 26, 2010 Look here : M Billingham and Co 07 Series or here : Fogg Specialist Bags - photographic bags and camera cases I had an Artisan & Artist. Don't like the zippers, too narrow to handle a camera + lens fast without scratching/hindering.
Jeff S Posted February 26, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 26, 2010 Nice bags, but I think the OP wants all leather. I agree on dislike for zippers...prefer flaps for access and weather. Jeff

doug_m Posted February 26, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 26, 2010 Billingham Pola Stowaway. It does not look like much but its great. An M9 and any lens except 135 fits in it. I keep my camera in a neoprene case and put the camera and neoprene case in the Pola bag. I also recommend putting a fabric covered foam insert from another bag in the bottom of the Pola for extra padding. Gopgle this bag and you will find other favorable comments. Its really great as a one camera plus lens and bits bag.
Guest AgXlove Posted February 26, 2010 Share #10 Posted February 26, 2010 While it's not all leather (it is rainproof, though) the Hadley Pro Billingham | Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Khaki) | 505233 | B&H is awfully hard to beat.
ismon Posted February 26, 2010 Share #11 Posted February 26, 2010 With the requirements you outline, an obvious choice would be the classic Leica case. (See eBay item #290406871345 as an example.) Hard leather, no zippers or velcro, fitted for your camera, compact, classy and affordable.

Agent M10 Posted February 27, 2010 Author Share #13 Posted February 27, 2010 Thanks for all the suggestions, but I don't see one on the mark yet. The Artist and Artisan Elliott I have. Nice little bag, but too small for what I'm thinking of. I'm basically looking for a messenger-type bag that will hold an M7 and lens. I can bring a Moleskine, pen, a small book or two and then the camera. The Elliott doesn't hold the Moleskine easily and you can forget the book (I'm thinking of just a small paperback). Also, soft leather — not looking for a box, but something that will be practical in protecting the camera.

Overgaard Posted February 28, 2010 Share #16 Posted February 28, 2010 Maybe try this: Take the M9 over the shoulder and put the pen and book in the pocket, along with extra battery and perhaps an extra lens. The tear on the camera over the shoulder would be different than the tear from lying in a bag. But the camera is pretty well protected under the arm and you would be able to use it anytime. It's just a matter of setting the ISO and white balance, and you are ready. It's of cause a matter of habit. But is an idea. I feel lighter and free this way, rather than having a small bag. Ed_K Posted February 28, 2010 Share #17 Posted February 28, 2010 Fossil recently have some new leather bags, see if this one (measuring 10"x2.5"x11") might work. As it has no padding, you have to wrap your M7 for some means of protection against shock and bumps, here's the link :- FOSSIL Bags Commuters:Mens Bryant - City Bag MBG9106

JHAG Posted March 13, 2010 Share #20 Posted March 13, 2010 Well, the French make some nice leather.... Like this Or this Jeff In any event, don't buy with Miss Numérique website. Their pricing is outrageous. Often a 20 to 40 % mark-up. This one is not a camera bag nad it's not cheap, but it's beautifully thought and made. http://look.hardgraft.com/
