Possible Purchase from Leica Shop in Austria

Recommended Posts

I am considering ordering an M9 from Leica Shop.

This would be shipped to me in the U.S.

Have any of you done this before and, if so, are there any cautions or should I just "go for it"?

Thanks.

Leicashop in Vienna is extremely reliable and well stocked, highly recommended. I have no experience ordering from the US, however, but I know they handle that on a regular basis.

well I am in Australia- and I ordered my M9 from New York city- it got shipped here no problems- and I think if I had waited here I would still be waiting from months to come. I th place has a good reputation I would go for it. expect the tax man to come with the parcel though...

I am checking to see whether they will mail through regular mail, in which case I've been told that there won't be tariff charges. I want to verify that, however.

Obviously you will tell them to deduct VAT for exporting it to USA right?

Look at their pricelist, click on the American flag, prices without VAT. I would assume they also know about US customs regulations and transport options, I would give them a call.

Leica Shop Wien certainly is one of the top international dealers, and I think they will be able to handle all customs and VAT problems. - Though I'd always prefer a dealer who is close to you. I am sure you find one in California. Even if you don't need him for any warranty regulations, you'll perhaps need him

for a simple lens hood, or something like this. It makes a difference if "your" dealer kmows you for buying an expensive M9, or if you are just one of many customers.
