These mustangs are living on a 5000 acre sanctuary in northern new Mexico..,most were headed for slaughter and have been rescued. They do get fed in the winter months but are not otherwise handled...from my understanding they rarely get vet care. My only chance to photograph them was at feeding time. There have been many shenanigans going on bringing great harm to the herds, filled with with lies by liing liars. The slaughter houses are one of the beneficiaries.
