azzo Posted February 21, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 21, 2010 I've no idea what type of car this is. ... All I know is that, it's a lovely capture.
elansprint72 Posted February 22, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 22, 2010 Always difficult to name cars from this era if there is not a distinctive radiator grille. My guess is an Abbott body; as to the make of car...? Something obscure, perhaps a Lea Francis. Tony might know. My first thought was MG, looks not unlike a YB but the grille is wrong. Sorry. earleygallery Posted February 22, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 22, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Odd one, not a Jag or a Riley or Wolseley. I checked the reg no and it comes up as 'others, Jones Hydraulic Crane' !! Looks nice though whatever it is!
ijporter Posted February 22, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 22, 2010 May I suggest that it is a 1938 Riley 1.5 litre Touring Saloon? Ian

biglouis Posted February 22, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted February 22, 2010 Thanks for the observations. This car really did look like it should have been in a museum and not on the road. The guy driving it gave me the thumbs up when he saw me photographing it and looked quite proud. Unfortunately, there was not enough time to get in front and photograph the radiator. earleygallery Posted February 24, 2010 Share #14 Posted February 24, 2010 Lots of very similar looking Alvis cars, but I'm not 100% convinced! That's the problem with these older cars, they all the same!
andybarton Posted February 24, 2010 Share #15 Posted February 24, 2010 Yup. Typical Euro-box. And he doesn't have to pay any road tax...
