John - your reactions and advice are always appreciated. I'll keep working on your suggestions. I have a few other rose photos which I''ll drip feed in. Andy - I use almost exclusively Fuji Reala for negative and Sensia for slide. So far I've been getting these professionally scanned (as this one was) but I intend to make increased use of my own scanner as my digital skills develop (hopefully). Thanks to all for your time.
