Advertisement Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Hi Guest imported_stefan_r, Take a look here at the beach. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stevem7 Posted July 7, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 7, 2006 Love the intense look in the eyes, and love the quality of this scan. Awesome BW tones.

abrewer Posted July 7, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 7, 2006 Fabulous picture, Stefan, as always. Awesome shot and interpretation...marvelous to me, and I don't recall having seen it before. The look in her eyes: so wistful, so full of deep thought about life...about loss...about lovers and sons... ...about...another cerveza! Michael
michael h Posted July 7, 2006 Share #6 Posted July 7, 2006 Ups, sorry international Forum. Good light and interesting personality. Maybe a little bit too concentric. Would be curious like this on the right goes on. On the left a bit boring, however presumably more important like my curiosity because the dark surfaces emphasize the person. Just read who is the fotograf Michael
halmsen Posted July 7, 2006 Share #7 Posted July 7, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Look and expression of the lady is really formidable and imposing. Perhaps the background seems a little bit confusing. But who can always choose the desired ambience?.
Guest imported_stefan_r Posted July 7, 2006 Share #8 Posted July 7, 2006 Alex, since this is not a staged portrait I dont care about the background, at the beach there is sometimes life around. if I would plan this portrait I would care about the surrounding. Andy, I showed it already? I was not sure, excuse me please. Michael, thanks. thank you all.
stuny Posted July 7, 2006 Share #9 Posted July 7, 2006 Stefan - You've been away too long. I'm pleased to see you posting again, and to see this wonderful shot once more. Stuart
graham_mitchell Posted July 7, 2006 Share #10 Posted July 7, 2006 Fabulous tones and lighting though I am not sure about the crop. He is too centred. Welcome, dear visitor! jmr Posted July 7, 2006 Share #11 Posted July 7, 2006 Graham, your crop is good and more classically correct, but to me Stefan's original has more tension as an image.
abrewer Posted July 8, 2006 Share #12 Posted July 8, 2006 Fabulous tones and lighting though I am not sure about the crop. He is too centred. Respectfully, and Stefan certainly can speak for himself to this, but I think you miss the powerful impact of the centered woman in her surroundings, Graham. The 35 allows us this panorama of dark and light: the precious present, if you will, in the darker images of the boys left, while the right side of the image recounts receding times past, with the light distantly in the background. The fact that the images on the left are torso and legs just adds to the tension, and mystery, of the scene. This is an image that can't be improved by cropping, in my opinion. It stands on its own with wonderful imagery as is! My two cents! Thanks. Allan
squiff Posted July 8, 2006 Share #13 Posted July 8, 2006 fantastic portrait, I like it uncropped, it gives the image space. s
Guest imported_stefan_r Posted July 8, 2006 Share #14 Posted July 8, 2006 yes please take him all the space away, squeze him INTO the picture, squeze him until there is no air left, suffocate him he needs presure, also from above! press his head, push him. graham_mitchell Posted July 8, 2006 Share #15 Posted July 8, 2006 yes please take him all the space away, squeze him INTO the picture, squeze him until there is no air left, suffocate him he needs presure, also from above! press his head, push him. I agree that it is lacking space with the crop but I had no extra image on the right to balance it. Never mind.

imported_peter_m Posted July 9, 2006 Share #17 Posted July 9, 2006 Awesome shot Stefan! I like the un-cropped version much better then the cropped version, the cropped version looks good but the original has much more life. Peter
