John Thawley Posted March 1, 2010 Share #21 Posted March 1, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) A search on Panasonic UK for the part number produces "no results". Back in 2005 when I got the D2 (with 2 x "Leica branded" batteries) I also bought a half dozen Hong Kong copies; these have performed well but now a couple have died completely and another is on the way out. Where can I buy some with a Panasonic badge? CGR-S602A LITHIUM ION BATTERY 79.95 CGR-S602A/1B LITHIUM ION BATTERY 79.95 http://www.pstc.panasonic.com/EpartR/ Just type DMC LC1 where it asks for the model number. Pol-Alexandre Posted March 4, 2010 Share #23 Posted March 4, 2010 Yes please can you PM me. Sc. Hi, SC ! Sorry for late answer ! I was out of home ! Not used yet to the dialects used in this forum ! What do you mean by "PM" ? My E-mail is "pol-alexandre@skynet.be" . Being a retired Electrical Engineer, I have been interested by the behaviour of Lithium-Ion batteries. I even prepared a small jig to test charging and discharging of D2 batteries (not easy as contacts are difficult to reach !) My conclusion was that genuine LEICA's are far better than anything cheap from Hong-Kong. I bought some day batteries that were a pure resistor - quite passive !! http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/images/smilies/mad.gif . PANASONIC is a well reputed battery manufacturer, I assume Leica D2 batteries come from PANA and are same as for LC1 . Li-Ion batteries that you wish to save for future use should be kept almost discharged in a fridge (near the milk). Of course they need to be reheated for use ! Enjoy your D2 as much I enjoy mine ! Its handling reminds me my Voigtlander Vitomatic II of 1962 (with much more : Bounce Flash + Zoom ) You shoot as YOU like ! Pol-Alexandre

wilfredo Posted March 7, 2010 Share #25 Posted March 7, 2010 To all Digilux 2 come and join Leica digilux 2 User in Facebook Leica Digilux 2 | Facebook This camera is truly the new Classic I just joined. I too may purchase a second used D2 but I doubt this will become a collectable. I think most of us are drawn to it because it's a working tool.
