Strange coding behaviour

Last sunday morning I went outside (really cold) to shoot. I make about 43 photos with the M8 (with last firmware) and with my Summilux 50 pre asph NON coded. As I have one lens coded (28 mm elmarit) I leave always the lens detection on. Obviously, with a non coded lens I cannot get any metada. The funny thing is that when I put the images into Lightroom 2.6 in my Mac, the 4 last ones apparently got some kind of metadata. In fact, Lightroom recognized that they were shooted with a 50 Summilux Asph. Inmediatly, I put again tha card in the M8, just to discard that was a Lightroom only issue, and the M8 recognized this 4 photos as 50 mm when I pushed the info button. I've tryied to reproduce this, but the camera works normally.

My question is, how is possible that the camera recognizes a lens if the lens has not been coded? how is possible that only some photos get the coding?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Joaquin

Ximo,

The Summilux 50 ASPH has only the first bit set to 1 (black) (Lens code: 100000). So probably you have something in the flinge that folish the reader (dust, dirty fingle, screw...)

The fact that a uncoded lens can be recognized is known... I remember some thread about and it happens also with a lens of mine (first type Tele Elmarit 90 2,8 - the "nano") : it is due to screws along the lens mount, that, if in the "right" position, can be read as "black bit" by M8: it is someway random (seems that depending on the angular position of the screw's cut the recognition happens or not, maybe also if the cut is "clean" or a bit "dirty-black"...).

The behavior you refer to is strange... a lens recognition "screw-actuated" ought to be costant on a certain lens: give a look to the mount of your lens, paying attention to the zone in which it covers the bit recognition sensor of M8... maybe some idea about can arise...
