Could I please get some pointers on where to score some M9 batteries? (I need a couple).

Not to make excuses for Leica, but I have had issues with sourcing batteries for many of my Canons and Nikons over the years. Battery supplies always seem to be an issue.

All hail the M8. Turns out - same battery, same body, same.... Might have been worth it after all.

I bought a no name - keeps a charge just as well if not better than the orig. I have not done a comprehensive test - but got a full session shot (100 shots or so) with the no name with power to spare.

i grabbed 5 no-name batteries from hong-kong for very little money- less than one leica battery. I found that occasionally they show as empty when charged- and have other quirks- but in general are OK- and last nearly as long as the original. even with their flaws they are well worth it as a back up.

What's going on with M9 sales? Still a bottleneck? Anyone heard of numbers?

I finally found an extra original M8/M9 battery..

 

And yes, the M9 sales is still a bottleneck, my dealer is up to 65 people on his waiting list.. O well..

If your dealer is on 65 people backordered, I doubt if they managed to clear that by the summer. Astonishing!

If somebody wants an M9, its not that difficult to find one. You just need to call around. Waiting on one dealer that has 65 orders ahead of you is not the way to get one.

 

I have been offered an M9 a dozen times in the past two weeks.

Problem us that in my country, Indonesia, we only have one and a half leica dealer. The one is a large store, and they're serious about their Leica sales. And they're having a hard time keeping up to the demands. They usually get about 1-5 units in every month, and since the long que, none of them ever displayed.

 

Secondly, if we buy them overseas or online, the tax is very high, at least 40% and may go up to even 100% on luxury items. Leicas are considered as luxury. The only way is to go overseas and buy one yourself, and return without the box (have the box mailed seperately). And trust me, ive been to Singapore in search for one, and a friend told me the only store available selling it in Hongkong is at 10,000 usd.

 

Hence, purchasing from this particular store is t the moment the most reasonable option.

 

The other "half" a store only sells uses leicas, i doubt if theres any used for sale here. But i did check haha.
