Leica 3rd Q Profit

And why would you want one? Summarits in the shorter lengths aren't exactly massive lenses.

It's also an over 50 year old design (not the New Line)....It does have its virtues, because of its age and design.

Does Every Wide Angle Leica lens have to block the VF corner? The 28mm Elmarit it rather large lens for its speed. I will have a Nokton 50mm f/1.1 in 3 weeks or so, it is a large lens, but at least the 50 Frame is centered, and not taking up the whole VF like a 28, for example. (Can't afford $10k this month ;))

That is the main advantage...no VF blockage on wider angle lenses. OK, no 50 pancake, the new Summarit's are not a bad size after all. :o

Just saying for conversation sake.

What does any of this do with Leica making a profit in the third quarter?

Something about a continued path of growth in lenses per the report.

Just speculating on a lens road map.

New Product = New Profits = better 4th Q, Just like the intro of the M9/S2 did for the 3rd Q.

What would you like to on a Lens road map? That would put a Leica in more NEW hands?

As to pancakes, I have a fundamental problem with using them in that I am a member of the human race and have "fingers". I find the pancake design encourages fuzzy pink borders to my shots.

Now a collapsible Summicron 50 asph, on the other hand...

Regards,

Bill
