poptart Posted February 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone gotten a new 50 lux asph in the last month or so? Have one on order from Adorama but they don't seem to be available anywhere.
Advertisement Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Hi poptart, Take a look here where are the 50s. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jager Posted February 15, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 15, 2010 Yes, they are scarce as hens teeth right now. If you'll peruse the forum you'll find many mentions of this. Best wishes that your wait won't be too long. Even if it is, though,I can say unequivocally that that lens is most definitely worth the wait.
zeitz Posted February 15, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 15, 2010 What a difference a year makes. Last year I walked into Samy's in LA and in 15 minutes walked with with a 50 Lux. And I got a $ 300 rebate from Leica USA. It's not just 50s either. Many of the most desirable lenses are not available. I'm on a waiting list for a 90mm Cron. sanyasi Posted February 15, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 15, 2010 It's not just the lenses. The batteries are out, the magnifiers are out. I've even sense a shortage of filters. Plus the Artist and Artisan bags are running low.
Jeff S Posted February 15, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 15, 2010 Yes, they are scarce as hens teeth right now. Hens' teeth not so rare after all Don't know if these researchers have been able to source Summiluxes, however. Jeff
smoody Posted February 15, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 15, 2010 I heard from a dealer that, in the USA alone, the size of the 50mm NOCTILUX waiting list is 120 units (nationally). I have to imagine that demand for the Summilux is even greater.
tategoi Posted February 15, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been waiting for the 50 Lux ASPH since I got the M9 in Singapore last December. The local dealer here expects the shipment to arrive in March. But again, the waiting list is long ................
JWW Posted February 15, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 15, 2010 Yes, couldn't get a new one but I was fortunate to find a used mint version. It's a great lens for the M9.
dsnyc Posted February 15, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 15, 2010 Yes, I received a 50 Lux Asph from my dealer (Photo Village in NY) a few weeks ago. It had been on order since early November. Still waiting, however, for my M9 ordered October 5th! David
Mauribix Posted February 15, 2010 Share #10 Posted February 15, 2010 There's not any particular problem with the 50lux's production. With the introduction of the M9, that lens (that became a less useful short tele with the M8) has become one of the most claimed piece of glass. Leica's production is working hard with all its divisions, it's a natural course then to get delayed waiting for such a demanded tool/combo (M9+50lux ASPH), IMHO. Checkland Posted February 15, 2010 Share #12 Posted February 15, 2010 makes me feel better about thinking the 4 week waiting list last summer was too long, worth the wait no matter how long/short it is tho.
viramati Posted February 15, 2010 Share #13 Posted February 15, 2010 Maybe you could try one of the smaller and less known leica dealers that's how I found mine back in December last year
