cbretteville Posted February 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I'm trying to make heads and tails of the series filter sizes. The new 24/1.4 takes Series VII filters, the old 35/1.4 pre-ASPH takes Series 7. They can't be the same. Foto Huppert lists Series 7 filers as ø50.8, there is no way that fits the old 35 Lux. Surely the "7" should be "VII"? And what is the diameter of the series 7 that fits the 35? Can someone unconfuse me? Thanks, Carl

jaapv Posted February 13, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 13, 2010 series 7 corresponds to 36 mm
stunsworth Posted February 13, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 13, 2010 Carl, it's possible to use a standard 49mm filter in the old 35mm Summilux's lens hood rather than a Series filter, and it can rattle around a bit if put in back to front. So I'd say 50.8mm is about right - remember the filter fits in the lens hood, not on the lens itself.
cbretteville Posted February 13, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted February 13, 2010 Steve, that explains a lot. And 49mm filters I have, some tape on the rim should make it rattle a little less. Thanks! - Carl
