This morning I was looking at the different bags available for the X1. The basic D-Lux 4 style bag is selling for €100, the ever ready bag (my favourite), with a separate pouch on the strap for the viewfinder, is selling for €150, and the bigger 'system' bag is selling for €195. I love the ever ready bag, but I does anyone know of a good-sized generic bag, such as a Crumpler, which would hold the X1 and have space for the viewfinder? grober Posted February 13, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 13, 2010 I like Billingham products a lot -- their "canvas" material look good, is weather resistant and ages well. Despite my affection for this brand, I'm thinking that any bag goes against the very idea of a compact camera like the X1 (mine, with the Leica 36mm viewfinder, is ordered but not here yet.) I did order the most basic Leica leather case for the camera fully realizing it won't hold the camera when it is wearing its external viewfinder or grip. Attach the grip (not ordered yet) and my encasement needs will change. Bottom line for me: I'll use the X1 for a bit with the accessories of my choice and then figure out which bag to buy, if any. -g Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

My X1 didn't fit with the leather neck strap attached. But worse, it is so tight that the flash gets pressed, so it pops out everytime you take the camera out of the bag. I have a Domke 5XB shoulder bag that I love because it can hold cameras like the X1 with a strap plus accessories, plus my wallet and keys! A great combo for me when I'm walking around town. I'll also look for a small belt bag it can just slip in and out of for some shoots. I know I won't buy a leather camera bag, preferring to use a combo neck/wrist strap when I'm shooting. I don't use any bag at all...if I take the camera with me then it is usually hung around my neck...(both ends of the strap attached to one lug). Jan Martijn Hi Jan Martijn, I like the looks of the Luigi half case very much but not all the parts are protected by the camera. Then I have to buy a full case but the price for it I find too much. stephen.w Posted February 14, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted February 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) One of the reasons why I liked the system case that Leica make for the X1 is that it folds out into a half case and I'm pretty sure one can use it with just the half case. My thoughts are that most photographers will buy this camera because of its portability, and the bigger the bag the more that quality is negated. I am buying the X1 to take pictures with and not to go with an Aston Martin and a Rolex Another thing is that, while I do not plan on dropping the camera, accidents do happen, and a leather bag is not going to offer your X1 much protection. That depends, either in a coat pocket, or in my bag. But I haven't figured the details out yet I like a half-case because it provides protection when carrying the X1 around my neck, yet allows the camera to be ready in an instant. The LEICA X1 Ever-ready case is I think more value for the money then the Luigi half case, but the Luigi case is 10 times nicer. Because I ordered a VF and will buy a grip also the Leica case is a more cleverer choice. The LEICA X1 Leather case is also nice but not also not a good choice. Stephen This my X1 inside a LowePro D-Res 30AW pouch I bought over 10 years ago ... there is plenty of room for the viewfinder and two small film pockets visible in the front will hold additional X1 batteries or memory cards. I'm not sure if this particular LowePro is still current but I've found one UK dealer with stocks and a list price of just £12 (discounted so might be old stock) The camera fits snugly as regards width and the case is a bit too high for it but it offers good protection and can be hooked to a belt or carried on your shoulder. dunk Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

It is small, cheap and comes with a shoulder strap and a belt loop. The bag has a small pocket for accessories like memory cards or a spare battery, but there isn't room for more than that. Mark I second that! I love my F5-XB bag. A small, good-looking and durable bag that's relatively inexpensive. Lots of padding too. There is plenty of room for the X1 and any accessories/pocket stuff. I can even easily fit an M camera (you know you'll want one eventually) and X1 or two M cameras in there with some room to spare for whatever else. I bought a used X1 there about a month ago. Kameraz also has the leather leica slide in pouch for it, about R1500-00, wont take the viewinder though which is a nice acessory to have. I ordered mine last week from Tudor in Capetown via Kameraz, they had two in stock. Paid about R3250-00 for it wich was less than I could get it for from Tudor's retail outlett! phancj Posted December 30, 2010 Share #20 Posted December 30, 2010 So far it seems I am the only one carrying it on my belt, in a pouch by "TAD Gear". Cameras worn on chest annoy me and I find them to be a pain. I wear my DSLRs on a "Blackrapid" strap but I love the X1 on my belt coz its so small, leaving my hands, shoulders and torso free. The good thing about the Tad Gear stuff is it is really durable and well stitched and the zipper in front is good for another battery and a few SDs. The fit is almost exact, like it is custom-made for the X1. Go check it out! I bought the camo, but they got black and khaki I think. I tried the leica case it was too heavy and the flash and/or lens cap pop out easy when using it. Not my cup of tea. The TAD Ger bags are inconspicuous too, no one notices. Welcome, dear visitor!
