Must say its a stunning peice of software and really very simple to pick up quickly. Ive done some messing around with some X1 images, Questions or comments welcome. Hi.. Will give Aperture a miss now. Wont be deleting Apertue though. Its a ll a matter of taste like with most things i guess.. hahaha.. a bit like cameras ! There are some good tutorials on the adobe homepage which helped me to get used to it quickly. I like it a lot and do not need anything else (apart from a little pse sometimes). The software is easy to learn and the results are good with minimal effort. A few weeks ago I prepared a 1 by 1,5 m print from an a900. Developed the file in RPP, CS3, DXO, Aperture and Lightroom. I liked the LR interpretation best and the print came out really fine. I have been building an Aperture library since 2006 and the new features in A3 look very interesting, but I'm leaning towards converting all my photo's to DNGs and starting all over with LR3. Does anyone have a clue as to how it will work with the licence and upgrading to LR3? Maybe it's best to just postpone downloading until april... I am surely not alone in hoping that Adobe will allow me to upgrade with the Leica X1 voucher when version 3 is released. A full copy is not cheap and you only need an upgrade which is cheaper.. So you have a margin in there that could go towards the cost of a viewfinder or case etc. Find someone who is will to pay for your full copy from the X1 and just download onto their computer.. etc.. You are treated like any other user, want to upgrade to 3 when it comes out you will pay for the upgrade and given a new activation upgrade key. I think we are just hoping the Lightroom 2 that comes with the camera is upgradable and not some special edition. I understand and I hope this is correct. However, you are insisting when you don't know for sure. You are most likely right, but I have seen this go both ways in the audio world. lincoln_m Posted February 18, 2010 Share #18 Posted February 18, 2010 Hi, I'm an Aperture 2 user and you guys reminded me that I have installed LR3 beta on my MacBookPro. The reason I'd forgotten about it was that after trying it for a few hours I realised that I didn't like the feel and couldn't get on with it after using Aperture 2 for the past 2 years almost. I remember Aperture felt odd after using PS7 for several years but I quickly learnt how to work to get the most out of it. I will be upgrading to Aperture 3 especially if the retouch works much faster. For film users cleaning up the pixel sized dust is essential. Photoshop used to do that quickly, Aperture2 struggles on 37Mpixel 16-bit per colour scans. LR3 beta did seem to assume you had a high-res screen and did not translate well to the 1280x800 of the 13inch MBP, but Aperture2 is just as easy to use on MBP as on iMAC with 1920x1200 display. LR3 beta had quite Large Print menu titles too which made the screen feel small. Apple are good at NOT wasting screen area with fancy borders, unlike MS Vista which leaves small laptops with very little usable desktop space. It's Personal preference, I guess?
