RichardM8 Posted July 4, 2010 Share #101 Posted July 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) In this lengthy tread I read nothing (or I have read past it) about the missing center mark/crosshair in all these VFs including Leicas' own I believe. How does this work in practice? I only use the center AF square and I can see myself easily missing a focus point without a center marking in the VF... Advertisement Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Hi RichardM8, Take a look here Voigtlander or Leica Viewfinder?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

How does this work in practice? I only use the center AF square and I can see myself easily missing a focus point without a center marking in the VF... Its a problem, I lost some shots because of it. It takes some time to get used on guessing where the focus point is aiming at while you are looking through VF
ChiILX1 Posted July 4, 2010 Share #103 Posted July 4, 2010 These mini viewfinders seem to be in short supply. Has anyone used one with the X1? I have to say, I think that if I can find a Voigtlander Mini Viewfinder in "BLACK", that would be cherry! This guy did in another thread in here somewhere but I can't find where. wda Posted July 4, 2010 Share #104 Posted July 4, 2010 With practice, it is perfectly possible to estimate the centre of the Leica optical viewfinder. But, one has to take extra care with close subjects. For those, I resort to using the LCD for accurate framing. It is easy to activate the LCD with the INFO button. davidhunternyc Posted July 5, 2010 Share #105 Posted July 5, 2010 Thanks for the post on the minifinder. It looks great a well proportioned with the rest of the camera. I think Leica's own viewfinder and the Voigtlander look disproportionately large tothe rest of the camera. So now, how am I going to find a minifinder in black? The Leica viewfinder may look large but it is functionally superb. It is always a compromise: compactness or performance, and very subjective too! RichardM8 Posted July 9, 2010 Share #107 Posted July 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) A little OT but where do you store the camera with a VF fitted? AFAIK it doesn't fit in any of the Leica cases/bags with a VF?
Guest MartinMann Posted July 9, 2010 Share #108 Posted July 9, 2010 A little OT but where do you store the camera with a VF fitted? AFAIK it doesn't fit in any of the Leica cases/bags with a VF? Well, then use a Nikon Leatherbag CS-E995, as it is recommended here. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/forum-zur-leica-x1/128428-leica-x1-goes-nikon-keine-panik.html#post1353085 It seems to fit and its around 20$ -

ChiILX1 Posted July 23, 2010 Share #110 Posted July 23, 2010 Toss this new viewfinder into the mix- and for Leicashot: notice the displacement of the lens further back so that your nose isn't squeezed against the lcd: DMC-LX5 | PRODUCTS | LUMIX | Digital Camera | Panasonic Global
Guest MartinMann Posted July 23, 2010 Share #111 Posted July 23, 2010 With my VF, there are no probs with fatty nose prints on the LCD anymore

I use a Delsey D60 bag and can store my X1 with VF and handgrip attached. It is a small and neat bag and costs around 20 Euro. It is no leather bag, but Nylon Polyester (which is completely water proof) and has soft padded sides inside (which protects the LCD screen from scratch). Maybe not the most beautiful and fancy bag, but I bought the camera to make photographs and bought the bag to carry the camera, and not to be subject for photographers myself;)

It looks like a good contender... shaped like the VC one, but seems to stick out past the back of the camera. It could be the one to beat price vs. functionality wise. JanCderidder Posted July 23, 2010 Share #114 Posted July 23, 2010 Call me a snob (call me anything for that matter) but I have tried the OLY viewfinder and it does fit well it just doesn't seem to match the overall X1 finish. I for one am wondering that such a though would ever cross my mind, but it did and I reacted by getting the VC metal viewfinder ..... shame, shame, shame, shame! What the leica brand can do to person .... But isn't it all very nice! :-)
leicaddict Posted July 23, 2010 Share #115 Posted July 23, 2010 The Leica X1 original viewfinder should be shipping right now, my dealer told me this week it won't take long anymore. Wait and see. But I won't put anything else than the Leica viewfinder on my X1.

It's expensive - $260 and hasn't it been available for the lx3 for a while? edit, it's not to expensive, amazon has them for < $150 - my mistake.. i prematurely googled. h00ligan Posted July 23, 2010 Share #118 Posted July 23, 2010 ERR, this just occured to me.. sorry if it's been asked. What is the difference between the dlux 4 viewfinder ($250) and the x1 viewfinder ($370)? One has 36mm printed , the other 24mm, and look from what I saw to be identical but for that? Is it possible the one saying 24 is not actual FOV?
