empekai Posted February 9, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is my first post and I stumbled onto this forum by googling it. Did not know there was such fan base so I hope you can help. A good friend of mine gave me a whole box of Leica equipment once used by a famous wild life photographer. It has been sitting in a box on my attic but I do not know what to do with it. Some stuff does not fit and there are many parts I do not know where to put it. The collection contains: R3 mot electronic body R5 body lenses 60mm 2.8 90mm 2.0 135mm 2.8 280mm 4.8 24mm 2.8 560mm 6.8 400mm 6.8 And then many adapters, motor drives extenders etc. I would like to make picture and email them to some-one who might be able to tell me what all this is. Would it make some money if I would sell it of. I would like to have a digital camera with a few lenses for it. I will not use this even though it is a complete set, Welcome, dear visitor! luigi bertolotti Posted February 10, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 10, 2010 Curios... there is a lens (280 f 4,8, also displyed in a picture) which is surely for a RF Leica with Visoflex, but the collection apparently includes only 2 SLR bodies... Luigi you can use from the 65 to 800 with the 14167 adapter.
Michiel Fokkema Posted February 11, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 11, 2010 All depends on the state of the lenses and camera's. If they look good I'm sure you can afford a nice mid price DSLR with some consumer lenses. Best will be to sell it on Ebay. Cheers, Michiel Fokkema

It all looks good and works. Need cleaning. I have some adapters and rings I can not place. Also the lens mentioned does not fit onto the bodies. I do not think I have all of what once was the kit, I will sell it of as I have no use for it. The long lenses are quite long and unhandy but 580mm is still a nice long lens! I had a similar windfall as documented on this very forum, you will be able to adapt some of the lenses to a modern DSLR, so ebay is your friend for finding the adapters. I went Leica R to canon, i have heard that Leica to nikon is trickier, but i can't confirm or deny. Anyway the main point of my post is that some of my best images have been taken with my Leica R lenses on a Canon 40D and i am so glad i didn't unload the lot and get modern L lenses. good luck with whatever you decide

wildlightphoto Posted February 21, 2010 Share #10 Posted February 21, 2010 Luigi you can use from the 65 to 800 with the 14167 adapter. This adapter is shown in the fourth photo attached to the 14198 (1:1 extension tube for the 60mm Macro lens).
Leicaquarters Posted February 21, 2010 Share #11 Posted February 21, 2010 Hi, Empekai. The first photo is the tube for 400/560 mm for Leica M on Visoflex. The second is the tube for 400/560 mm for Leica R. So with two different tubes you can use the same lens on different cameras. Saves a lot of money! Regards Peter
