ezc203 Posted February 6, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Greeting LUF members, Once again, I need to draw on the experience and knowledge of this fantastic forum. Here is the situation: I am currently traveling for work and have about 12 hours left in my currently location before traveling to the rural areas of Southern China. I found a second hand camera store that is selling the following package deal: M3 + 5cm Summarit 1.5 + 9cm Elmar 4.0. The asking price is roughly $1000, give or take a little bit. I tried all both lenses on my M8 and everything checks out. The exterior is showing some usage, but I've never been critical of how my lenses look, just how they perform. Also, I'm not really keen on the 9cm Elmar (I already have a pre-APO 90mm Cron), but the store owner insists on selling it as an entire package. What do you guys think? Should I pull the trigger? Your opinion is greatly valued and much appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Guest maddoc2003jp Posted February 7, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 7, 2010 Sounds like a good deal and the M3 is a good companion for your M4-P (I used to use both in parallel). Since the lenses work (as tested by your M8) just check the M3.... VF clear and crisp (NO signs of separation !), shutter speeds, holes in the curtain .... It would be good if the dealer offers right to return (light leaks etc ...) Otherwise it sounds great for this price.

luigi bertolotti Posted February 7, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 7, 2010 Good price, BUY ! Elmar 90 is a "cheapo" you can find eveywhere, but Summarit 1,5 is a tasty lens that can be very appreciable (I often use it onto M8, typically aiming for B&W) ... and M3 is always M3... UliWer Posted February 7, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 7, 2010 If the 90-Elmar has a No. higher than 1.913.000 you could be lucky, for this would be the rare 3-elements Elmar, which is an excellent lens and usually a rather expensive one on the second hand market.
