JonasYip Posted February 7, 2010 Share #41 Posted February 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Other than it not liking one of my SD cards, no problems here. But then I've only had it a week and a half. j

vanhulsenbeek Posted February 7, 2010 Share #43 Posted February 7, 2010 ...the secret service agent at the Obama event that tried to verify that it really is a camera somehow made it freeze-up and required me to remove the battery to reboot. Sounds like he took a picture with the lenscap in place. Figures for a secret service agent , but I must confess I have done it myself to. Indeed requires removal of the battery for reboot. A well known and documented (on the Forum) oddity.
eritho Posted February 7, 2010 Share #44 Posted February 7, 2010 Have it since before Christmas. No problems except i had to buy new SD-cards. Eagerly awaiting new firmware which would hopefully allow for use of all my SD-cards and make formatting faster!
xtoph Posted February 7, 2010 Share #45 Posted February 7, 2010 apart from not recognizing the first three sd cards i tried it with in the camera store (not sandisk), and apart from the rear control dial sticking or catching instead of turning smoothly (i was able to get it to free up a bit by holding it upside down and spinning the dial a while), and apart from the nasty left edge/corner red fringing, and apart form the fact that the battery only lasts for half a day's shooting, or even just walking around when i might want to do some shooting (i have it set to never sleep, yes, i know i could turn it off between shots, but part of the point of carrying an exquisitely responsive camera is to be able to take photos instantly, so i guess i will stock up on batteries and and extra charger), so far, so good. henkv Posted February 7, 2010 Share #46 Posted February 7, 2010 No problems at all... although the white paint of the text 'M9' in front started to fall off after a few weeks. I removed the rest with a tooth stick (done in 10 seconds) and the result is much better! So now I don't have any complaints
remmeltvanveelen Posted February 7, 2010 Share #47 Posted February 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) On an internet forum, where one reads about a certain problem with an item, it's easy to surmise that problems are possibly widespread. My M9 has had zero problems at all, and has exceeded my expectations. I'm guessing the majority arrive problem-free, right out of the box. Anyone else get one like this? Show of hands?Larry I have the M9 since 30th december. No problems. But I wonder me about the fact that the sensor wasn't clean. How is that possible with a new camera? mhoersch Posted February 7, 2010 Share #48 Posted February 7, 2010 I hope this thread keeps running for a long time. It might turn out to become one of the funniest, yet.Of 47 problem-free posts so far 11 do in fact mention 'minor' problems like red image edge, paint peeling off, sd cards not working, dusty sensor out of the box, etc. What emerges seems to be a truly Leica way of defining 'problem-free'. Hi, wait a minute! I don't see SD-cards not working as a problem, as no of the cards I already had was recommended by Leica!!! I bought a few of the cards recommended in the manual and there was no more "problem". Maybe some of the so called problems come from not reading the manual before using the camera? I know, the problem is no the camera but the SD cards..)

Jager Posted February 7, 2010 Share #52 Posted February 7, 2010 Good to go since November. Lovely, lovely camera. The 75 Cron APO I bought in December was likewise perfect.

wattsy Posted February 7, 2010 Share #54 Posted February 7, 2010 My M9 bought in October has been back to Solms to have the RF properly calibrated (it was front focussing). I got it back around three weeks later (including shipping from London Mayfair shop to Milton Keynes and then on to Solms and back again by the same route). It's now bang on. Although I'm happy with the camera as a platform for my lenses I wouldn't describe it as "problem free".
hoppyman Posted February 7, 2010 Share #55 Posted February 7, 2010 Received early November. Zero problems, sensor spotless from factory, focus is perfect with 50 ASPH. at f/1.4 even at minimum distance as it is with APO 75 ASPH. at f/2, white paint didn't fall out of the 9, SD cards worked fine, never seen a red edge with my 28 and 24, buffer does exactly what it is stated to do, Auto White Balance function works fine in any reasonable lighting situation, lens detection works fine; I don't miss the top panel frame counter, no class actions contemplated. jonoslack Posted February 7, 2010 Share #56 Posted February 7, 2010 Like Ian, My grey M9 which arrived in December was front focusing. I sent mine straight back to Leica, and got it returned, focusing perfectly, in 9 days. So, not perfect, but only an inconvenience.
