I don't know but remember Menos you have an R-D1 not an M8. The microlenses of the Epson are older that those of the Leica so they might well play a role in the actual fall off rendition. FWIW.

I'll take that into account, when I get one.

Actually, I bought a M8.2 today as well, to better fit the 12575, when I get one ;)

I had a try today with the 35 Lux hood on the 28 Cron ASPH.

It did not fit and I did not want to force it, as the shop owner made a slightly sour face, when he recognized, that I tried it on a 28 Cron :o

I'll keep using the 12451 for now with the 28.

I've tried two different 12589 hoods on my 28mm ASPH Summicron and they both fit. One is a tighter fit to mount than the other though - so there is some variation between the hoods. One thing I've noticed that can make the hood hard to mount is when you squeeze the two side tabs to open the two locking catches it's difficult to avoid squeezing the complete hood. That slightly distorts the rear mounting ring making it a tight fit. You need to squeeze only enough to release the catches. In addition before mounting you have ensure the locking ring at the rear of the hood is fully turned so the rear facing red arrow is central, that is unlocked position.

Bob, I tried the locking ring in both end positions (as I was not sure, which position was locked).

It looked, as the two plastic tabs were the culprit, not allowing to slip the hod on.

I suspected any more violent moves would have had the plastic hood deformed or scratched, leading in me, paying almost 200,- EUR for a possible unwanted item.

I'll hunt down a used one (maybe even with lens still attached later this year).

I'm a bit violent with mine. It works. :D;)

The dealer took the new for sale lens out out of my hands in disbelief ;-)

So, to sum it up - my shopping list:

1 x Leica 12575 for 35 Cron ASPH,

1 x Leica 35 Lux ASPH hood (with or without lens) for 28 Cron ASPH

Thanks for the advices - I am now eating dry bread and drinking tap water for the rest of 2010, as of the purchase of yet another camera first.
