Thank you, Nick

giordano Posted February 2, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 2, 2010 You get much better shading if you use an old rectangular hood instead. With the rectangular plastic 35mm hoods, I think you just need to file off the little lugs on the hood that make sure it's lined up with the field of view. lct Posted February 2, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 2, 2010 You need at least a periscope with that beast.
adan Posted February 3, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 3, 2010 The small rectangular plastic hood for the 28 ASPH f/2.8 and 35 f/2 ASPH or v.4 pre-ASPH also fits the pre-ASPH Summilux (without removing the alignment tabs, although there are no notches for them to lock into, so the hood can rotate by accident). Basically, the clip-on Leica shades for E39 lenses are pretty interchangeable - the grooves on the lenses that the clips catch hold of are in the same position for 35, 50 'cron, 90 Elmarit/TeleElmarit, and 135 Elmar lenses. I've swapped around 35, 50, 90 and 135 clip-on shades and they all physically fit (leaving aside questions of vignetting). So any 35 that will take the old 1960s/70s round metal clip-on hoods should also accept the plastic clip-on shades.
