daleeman Posted February 2, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wonder has anyone tried to make a pinhole lens out of a Leica M body cap. I see some on eBay for Nikons and Canons, but wondered if anyone tried this with a M8? Seems some of these body caps have been milled out and there is a thinner center material giving a tighter hole tollerance. Any ideas about what size hole gives what kind of pinhole views? They've got this thread about it (in case you hadn't found it): http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/22651-pinhole-m8.html I also pulled this up, which has some interesting examples: M8 pinhole - Flickr: Search I'd thought about giving this a try myself and then decided against it after reading somebody comment that the sensor is charged up and the pinhole lets dust get sucked in right up to the sensor. Cheers! Will
daleeman Posted February 2, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted February 2, 2010 Great, so I am not alone. I just found out that April 25th is World Pin Hole Day. Look up more at Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day - home Would be outstanding if Leica M users would get thir images up on the site. Granted a $ 4K or $ 7K pinhole camera might raise some eyebrows. petebw Posted February 4, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 4, 2010 Lee, maybe take a look at Leica Goodies: Get your SPINS for the Leica M! They've been selling these caps for ages - I believe the different depths give different lens distances... hth! Pete.
ldhrads Posted February 4, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 4, 2010 I bought a Skink pinhole for the M Mount. It's beautifully crafted, just what you'd want on your Leica. I've not had too much time to experiment with it but it has produced a few interesting images. Bought it on the _Bay

Well at least what I could see on a web page. Probably will pick one of these up. I hope to get in some practice and will lobby for the M8 users on here to participate in world pin hole day in April. Up for it too? Lee
