Baptiste Posted February 8, 2010 Share #101 Posted February 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) HI There - can you take some pictures when it arrives - I think there have been several changes of colour since those website pictures. I ordered for one as well! Very sweet exchanges with Bee btw! And yes currently, no more black, but a nice charcoal!

Jeff S Posted February 8, 2010 Share #102 Posted February 8, 2010 Is there a smaller Fogg bag for just a single body and a couple extra lenses? The Lyre. Jeff
Jeff S Posted February 8, 2010 Share #103 Posted February 8, 2010 The B-Leika is interesting Fogg Specialist Bags though I don't know about the colors. The black is nice, but perhaps should be all-black. Unless of course the brown turns dark brown sooner than later. Fogg bags have always come in all black...just like the Billinghams...but pics are not shown on their site. However, when I last communicated with bee, she and Nigel were not thrilled with the latest black color...more charcoal, I think, than deep black as in past. I'm not sure how the situation has been resolved. That's the nature of a small business with hand crafted goods, relying on different suppliers, over which they have little leverage due lack of economies of scale. The trade-off, though, is exceptional quality, attention and service. My all black b-laika is a dozen years old or so...and still in great shape despite many trips. bee even sent me a complete new set of dividers, when I lost just one during a relocation...no charge. snajczuk Posted February 8, 2010 Share #104 Posted February 8, 2010 I have just got confirmation from bee berman that my b-laïka is in the post, so if nothing goes wrong I shall have it towards the end of this week. But have anybody been i touch with Luigi lately? I have ordered a half-case from him which he has acknowledged. But I sent him two mails last week that haven't been answered, so i'm beginning to get worried. Has he gone on another trip or have I inadvertently insulted him in some way? Certainly not my intension. On the other hand, there is no hurry as it seems that I won't get my M9 for a long time yet... Åmund He is running about three weeks behind on e-mails. At least that is how long it took for him to respond to a recent purchase made online. You should hear from him soon. He always gets back to you, but sometimes at a snails pace. snajczuk Posted February 9, 2010 Share #106 Posted February 9, 2010 I assume you know about Tamarkin...Fogg retail business right around your corner. Jeff Yes I do......I have spoken to him several times regarding the Fogg bags. His shop is about 30 miles away. How convenient is that! I was very interested in the Fogg black/black Lyre bag, but the black is temporarily unavailable. I ended up purchasing the A&A Oscar Day Bag after reading through these posts. I am going to hold out on the Lyre Bag until black is available again. This post has been good for me as I have placed three orders after reading many recommendations from others. :-)
Jeff S Posted February 9, 2010 Share #107 Posted February 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just added an all black Lyre last year, after owning the b-laika for many years. I think the black unavailability relates to the supplier issue I referenced in post 104. Another place to check for a Lyre is Keeble and Schuchat in Palo Alto, CA. Jeff Alford is the guy to talk to....nice and knowledgeable. If you find a Lyra in stock but unsold, beware of slight changes over the years in size. In general, the more recent bags (including the b-laika) have grown a bit to accommodate the new digital age. Jeff

cliffp Posted February 9, 2010 Share #112 Posted February 9, 2010 Baptiste All my gear is off to Solms to be aligned (rangefinder) so I cant take shots showing how everything fits. It is smaller than I thought it would be (even though I had the dimensions, there is no substitute for having the actual thing there). If you do a google search for B-Laika and select images you will see photos showing what you can get in one(you need to look through a few pages). I have bought a Matin 50 lens pouch which I am hoping will work as a substitute for the leather lens pouches which, certainly for the wide angle lenses, are a bit bulky. I am very glad I bought the bag - it is ridiculously expensive but as perfect a design as the cameras it was designed for.
Jeff S Posted February 9, 2010 Share #113 Posted February 9, 2010 Nice bag, but (top pic) looks light grey and brown, not charcoal and black. By comparison, my black version is deep black all over. bee said they had an issue with the latest blacks, but I wonder if this was what she was referring to, or if this is another choice altogether. In any event, enjoy. Jeff
cliffp Posted February 9, 2010 Share #114 Posted February 9, 2010 Nice bag, but (top pic) looks light grey and brownThe colour rendition isn't completely accurate. I was using an LX3 in the very little natural light left at the end of the daylight. There is no brown in it at all. It is a grey/blue colour. If I'd had my M9 and expodisc you'd know what it looks like! The picture showing part of the insides was originally worse for white balance and I tried to tweak it in LR (needless to say I didn't do a very good job!) I now realise Jeff is talking about the leather being brown - its isn't - it is completely black.
Jeff S Posted February 9, 2010 Share #115 Posted February 9, 2010 I now realise Jeff is talking about the leather being brown - its isn't - it is completely black. Thanks for the clarification...at least it wasn't my screen calibration! So, is Fogg referring to the leather or to the blue/grey fabric as "charcoal"? If the former, I'm assuming the fabric has a different name/description. (My all black bag is just that...all deep black leather and fabric, not charcoal...including all black stitching.) This is just out of curiosity, as I'm not in the market for more bags...just haven't checked the Fogg site or communicated with bee or Nigel in a while, and wondering what they're offering these days. Or, is yours a special order? Jeff
cliffp Posted February 9, 2010 Share #116 Posted February 9, 2010 Mine is supposed to be charcoal.
Åmund Posted February 12, 2010 Share #117 Posted February 12, 2010 I've had a delightful correspndence vit bee berman and she wanted to know if the Leica factory in Solms is open for visitors. Does anybody know how to do it if you want to visit? Apparently a M9 is high on her wish-list too! Åmund
hyper67 Posted February 19, 2010 Share #118 Posted February 19, 2010 Hi all Looking for a thick cotton, black strap for my m. Similar to say what a Nikon or Canon have but in black with no logos/stripes etc....that would be more comfortable than the one Leica supplies and also discreet....tried everywhere on line but didn't find anything that looked rugged and simple (no padding/cheap camera straps etc).....any suggestions? thx
