Nice! :)

Thank you for a nice overview of cool (and some needed) accessories.

I got my new (to me) M8u less than a week ago and I am already getting quite attached to it. Problem is, I am also VERY attached to the Digilux 2. Now when I go out, I not quite sure what camera to bring. If I pimp the M8 too much, I'm afraid the D2 will not come out and play as often :).

Thanks!

Question regarding X-RITE:

Could it be used once for creation of few profiles, eg. based on light conditions, and used afterwards regularly - or it doesn't make sense, and we should repeat profile creation every shooting?

Good question. It's a software package and the "passport" to hold in front of the camera. And then basically no manual as it should run automatically. In fear for messing up something that works I haven't tried to do a profile. So wonder what I've missed. But it appears that you can easily create/export a camera profile from Lightroom, and also that it actually (as promised) automatically adjusts a series of imported pictures if the "passport" is in one of them.

But I need to dig into it. I miss the possibility to see what's going on, like with a screen calibrator you can see the result with and without the calibration - and then make your choice.

Thorsten - fun. FWIW you might also want to mention Mr Zhou's excellent half case. Beautifully made and excellent value for money. I bought one on a whim and have found it a very comfortable thing to hold. He only had the red stitching at the time I got mine, but I kind of like it. :) Quick to take on and off and really good for those days when you're carrying the camera around slung across the body - or where you're working with two cameras and you don't want them banging into one another.

The other thing I'd mention is the Giottos / Schott glass screen protector. Simplicity itself to put on, totally un-obtrusive and a useful protection for a vulnerable part of any digital camera. A good compensation for the lack of quartz glass on the M9.

Chris, thank you for the pictures. Could you post a detailed image of the screen protector – esp. the edges, too? The most annoying issue of the M9 is the lack of sapphire glas. The Giotto protector seems to be an acceptable alternative...

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Chris - I concur on the Giottos Aegis SP 8250. Very simple yet extremely useful. Tough to find, however. I also bought Mr. Zhou's half case - he is a great guy to work with - but it does not fit with my Thumbs Up EP-1. I explained this to Mr. Zhou, and he said after similar feedback from other customers, he is looking into a redesign (as Luigi has done) to accommodate the Thumbs Up. Hopefully it will be available soon.

Tom:

Here are photos of the Giottos Aegis SP 8250 on my M9 (also with Thumbs Up EP-1 without markings - stealth version and TU Boop). The SP 8250's corner edges are just slightly more angular than the M9's screen, but I have had no problems with it catching on anything (some have with the prior version).

Cheers,

Rich

Rich – Thanks a lot! Seems to be the missing thing.

Compared to higher costs (apply sapphire glass by the customer service) this should work adequately. Any experiences removing it after a longer period of time?

All the best from Munich,

Tom

It was probably p****ed off I was using a Ricoh GRD2 to take it's portrait ;)

Hi Chris

I'm sure your camera would have full respect for the nice little GRD2 . . . . . no, I reckon Nicole has it, and it's the red stitching that's causing it!

incidentally - where can you get the SP 8250 from? I was looking for one in the UK and failed.
