earleygallery Posted January 26, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 26, 2010 Do you mean dust on the sensor, showing up in your images?

nigelb Posted February 1, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 1, 2010 Highly unlikely you'll find a drawing that will be useful. Do you really want to dismantle your camera? You could send it to Leica for overhaul.
earleygallery Posted February 1, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 1, 2010 If the dust isn't causing problems then honestly I wouldn't bother touching it. Dust is a fact of life, you will never get rid of it completely whatever you do!

cluso Posted February 6, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, if it is visible only in the finder, it is quite straightforward to clean I believe. The finder structure is quite prone to gathering dust and I have done it myself several times. You don't need a schematic drawing, it is more like an ipod or other electronic devices than a camera (like the beautiful old rangefinders where everything is mechanical). The whole optical and sensor setup are one block that you don't have to take apart. What you need is a little screwdriver (one that fits the outside screws is fine for the inside as well), long tweezers and some skill in doing this kind of thing. Small screws, lots of flat cables that are connected in different sorts of mechanisms. If I remember correctly, you need to open the camera, remove the main board, and work your way all the way down to remove the combined lens-sensor unit. The finder itself is protected by a little plastic cover secured with three screws. You can open it and carefully de-dust and clean the lenses and windows, then reassemble. I am not 100% sure, but from my memory, in order to reach all screws you have to take the optical unit out. It took me about half an hour to take the whole thing apart to tighten the screws that hold the lens barrel, and to put it back together (longer the first time I admit), so it is not a terribly big issue. I took some pictures along the way, maybe it is of any help to you: Repair of the Leica Digilux 1 Give me a yell if I can help you with any more details. Good luck, cluso
Digitom Posted February 6, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 6, 2010 Hi,...What you need is a little screwdriver... Repair of the Leica Digilux 1 ... I saw the fotos, wow! You are audacious! I would not touch the camera like that because after all I could say "my camera still works fine, but several parts are missing" or I have to send the parts to Leica with a requst for re-assembling...maybe it looks more complicates as it is. But thanks for the interesting fotos!
