Silver chrome.

(and forget about chrome lenses on black body).

Why???, I love my panda kit.....Black M8 and 3 chrome lenses, ok, heavier but I really do prefer the chrome lens look.

wait a min, its what it does that matters, not what it looks like...

Something about the chrome lens on the black body just looks. . . . Unnatural. :D

De gustibus non est disputandum, no harm no foul.

I'm of a similar mind about the silver control dials on a black body and the black controls on a silver body. Some people are very happy with that. I just can't get my head around it.

And, John, you're right--what it does matters. But how it looks matters, too. :)

Thanks!

Will

Chrome + Chrome = HOT!

And, in my experience, practically invisible. The only time people ever notice my camera is if I stop to chimp and they're taken aback that I've got a digital camera, instead of an antique.

it's almost blasphemic to put a LHSA Lux on a ugly digital leica. :D

Have to admit, was a little disappointed at first that the "too-good-to-pass-up" M8 was chrome... Until I got it.

Nicest looking Digital camera that I've ever seen, and my 4 DSLR's are all black.

Love the M8. Have not taken any pictures OF it, just with it.

Who cares? What an utterly nonsense question to ask.It is about the camera and its qualities and not about its exterior or image. But if you would like a serious reply: metal is bad for lenses (reflections) and even more so for filters.

But the camera body can be any color. Why not paint it pink??????

I'll buy one! (Provided it has matching lenses and accessories of course.) :D

...this forum was free of put-downs and judgmental comments.

I appreciated the serious part of your response though.

Of course a great looking camera with lousy shooting qualities is almost as bad as a truly incompetent photographer.

But everything else being equal...the aesthetics of objects means more to some than others. That's just how it is...no judgement.

Well, if putting a fantastic lens on a camera that gets used every day is blasphemy, then I'm glad to be an unbeliever.

(And what's with the bashing of digital Leicas? They're the best-looking digital cameras out there- a damn sight nicer than the wünderplastik dSLR crap. )

i love the m8/m8.2 and was recently looking at 2nd hand m8.2's for back up to my black m8.2. i noticed from scouting around local dealers, local forums and ebay that a silver m8.2 is harder to find than black and the trend was that it is generally more expensive than the black version, especially if it's minty. i also saw several requests from people looking for silver m8.2's. silver looks great with silver or black lenses. many might disagree but in terms of stealth, for me black or silver bodies are equal in this respect because plus a leica lens they are still tiny. i'd go for the 28 elmarit, btw..
