pop Posted September 11, 2010 Share #21 Posted September 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Bought mine recently for some €520. I was lucky since the highest bidder turned out to be unable to pay, and the seller offered me the camera for "my" price. It's my sunday camera. For every day, it's the DMC-LC1 when I'm carrying a digital one.
Advertisement Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Hi pop, Take a look here Digilux 2 - resale value through the roof (recent eBay sales). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LKeithR Posted September 11, 2010 Share #22 Posted September 11, 2010 I picked up an LC-1 in September 2009 and got my D2 in November of the same year. I paid $750 CDN for each of them. I check Craigslist on a regular basis and they're the only ones I've ever seen advertised locally (Vancouver, B.C. area). I have way too much gear--just ask my wife--but if I ever stumble across another of these I'll grab it in a heartbeat...

krabat Posted September 27, 2010 Share #28 Posted September 27, 2010 Yes, the Digilux 2 makes it easy to become a master of photography. AND we know what we have with our preciousssss....
John Thawley Posted September 28, 2010 Share #29 Posted September 28, 2010 You guys have been talking this camera up so much on this site that you've increased the price. However, I don't think it is worth those prices at this point. The more I think about this statement the more I'm convinced that if someone showed up with a sealed Digilux 2 new in the box, I'd pay the original selling price for it.... in a heart beat. John Thawley Posted September 28, 2010 Share #31 Posted September 28, 2010 I have earmarked two of mine to fund the X100 - if it appears and can deliver the high ISO's. The X100 does show promise. I hope it gets delivered "as advertised." Could you imagine what would have happened had the Leica X1 followed this format? It would have been a Leica for the ages. Seriously, not to get off on an X100 rant, since it isn't 'real' yet... had Leica built a camera to those specs they seriously could have have gotten out of the the Pana-Leica business all together and had a boutique-Leica market of sizable proportions and remained true to the brand's core values. It frustrates me to no end that Leica has missed the mark so badly. JT
jungbum Posted October 19, 2010 Share #32 Posted October 19, 2010 Is $900US worth it? No box but include all accessories, two more batteries, and UV filter. He said otherwise it's pristine but I can't really tell. What's the going price nowadays with and without box with full accessories? Some scratches here and there. Scratches on the side bothers me though. Should I wait for different D2? Welcome, dear visitor! I read this page: leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Sites - Leica Digilux 2 sample photos and tests (as well as Panasonic DMC-LC1) - Page 2 and it seems like it removes the marks but I was just wondering if what's on my picture is marks or scratches. So other scratches/marks (besides on the side) won't be rubbed right? I saw Miracle Cloth on eBay: miracle cloth items - Get great deals on Sporting Goods, Home Garden items on eBay.com! Gabrielnoraa Posted October 19, 2010 Share #35 Posted October 19, 2010 My first Digilux was bought in Germany second hand series 3xx with original sensor for 750 Euros, including a Helipon filter. A month ago I was able to get a boxed Digilux 2 series 2xx with replaced sensor that just came from service, with extra original battery for 450 Euros, I was the only bidder. This was in ebay.es Spain.

Are these reusable/washable? Thanks!! Yes... that's the cloth I sent to Thorsten. I've had one for years.... you just keep it in its bag and store it in another sealed zip lock bag. DO NOT wash it. Use it over and over. It does remove the marks from the strap if they've not gone all the way through the paint. Thorsten had one that had apparently seen some of his late night Danish soirees. (tell the girls not to play with the Leicas, Thorsten) The one you show here appears to be a perfect candidate for the cloth. Miracle Polishing And Cleaning Cloth . The original Miracle Cloth which has proven to out clean and polish any other product. JT
jungbum Posted October 20, 2010 Share #37 Posted October 20, 2010 So these circled in red are nonremovable scratches right (because the paint has peeled off)? k_g_wolf ✝ Posted October 20, 2010 Share #38 Posted October 20, 2010 >> jungbum ... take it easy ! A camera is normally made to TAKE pictures, and not made to be photographed to such detail. It´s a tool and works perfectly even with a few marks, if this should be your concern. Best regards GEORG
John Thawley Posted October 21, 2010 Share #39 Posted October 21, 2010 So these circled in red are nonremovable scratches right (because the paint has peeled off)? I guess I'm learning more each day I think you'd be surprised how much can be polished out. My experience has been that it is black marks that determine deep wear. The early production did not have "lug" protectors with the camera. They're a small piece that slips between the O ring and the lug on the camera body when you attach the strap. If you wait for a perfect Digilux 2 you'll a.) miss a lot of pictures, while you b.) wait a very long time. Perfect is rare. And by the way... have you looked at the base of the camera. I'd be surprised if the serial no. tag isn't getting dog eared at the corners and very surprised if there are not marks on the casing. Anyone mounting the camera to a tripod one time will more than likely scratch the bottom plate. And, of course, that's what the camera sits on too... so it's going to have nicks and scratches. It's a tool. Leica will replace the top case and bottom plate if you're so inclined. JT
JGW Posted October 27, 2010 Share #40 Posted October 27, 2010 I would suggest that people be very careful with this 'Miracle Cloth'. Scratches, however minor or shallow in any paintwork, cannot be illuminated unless the paintwork is redone, (not advisable) or an abrasive product is used (T Cut!) to 'rub out' the scratch, which I would again suggest as inadvisable for Leica cameras. This cloth uses the latter system and works in much the same way as, 'Dualit' wadding, for those who know of this metal cleaner, which also goes black when used. Such products remove tarnish by slight abrasive action, and would eventually remove silver plate, or indeed, paint. After trying this 'Miracle Cloth' on the bottom of my D2, I found that the cloth polished out the slight satin paintwork finish. Consequently. I needed to carefully use it all over the base of the camera to blend in with any minor improvement it had made, which wasn't much. It left a slight sheen to the finish that wasn't there before. If you were to use it on the top-plate of your camera, you might be disappointed. Perhaps using the cloth on the side where the strap lugs have made scratches would give an improved appearance, but I would be careful elsewhere.
