5156246 Posted January 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I am in the process of building/buying a M-System. Right now I am being offered a used 50mm Summilux, for which the seller states, it is the new one ASPH with Floating Elements. He sent me the attached picture. I can not see if this really is the new one or the old pre ASPH version. What do you say? Thanks!
Advertisement Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Hi 5156246, Take a look here Is this an old or new Summilux 50?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
frozenace Posted January 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 18, 2010 Ask for more pictures of the front/back lens element, never guess.
peter_n Posted January 18, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 18, 2010 That looks like the last pre-ASPH lens to me. Below is a pic from Leica of the 50 ASPH. Judge for yourself.
scc Posted January 18, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 18, 2010 That is a pre-ASPH.
lct Posted January 18, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 18, 2010 Yes it is the last pre-asph Summilux 50/1.4 in black chrome version (code # 11868). So it is not the asph in any way.
tdtaylor Posted January 18, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 18, 2010 From that view, with the focus ring on infinity, you should be able to see the focusing tab. I see none, some it must be the pre-ASPH.
xjr Posted January 18, 2010 Share #7 Posted January 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) it appears pre-asph and I agree with last post. but ask for more photos and one from top looking down. The word ASPH will be clearly visible. Who is the seller so that the rest of us can be careful especially when the photos are not sent !
scc Posted January 18, 2010 Share #8 Posted January 18, 2010 The pre-ASPH is still a lovely lens, but I wouldn't pay more than US$1600 for an uncoded copy, personally.
