Advertisement Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Hi Bo_Lorentzen, Take a look here S2 in the field - something other than Leica dealer shoots. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted January 17, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 17, 2010 Soft images on my monitor. They hardly do justice to the camera.

Bo_Lorentzen Posted January 17, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted January 17, 2010 You can't expect to evaluate ANY large image on a web-posting, its all just words until one have a print in the hands. How would a rangefinder M9 compare meaningfully to a SLR S2. ? The camera is meant to be a MF quality SLR in a compact (somewhat) body size, comparing to the use and operation and files from a Nikon is perfectly meaningful, as the S2 supposedly would be a step up in quality while being equally portable, which is the intend of Leica in the first place... they never meant to compare to a M9. . Guido Posted January 17, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 17, 2010 comparing to the use and operation and files from a Nikon is perfectly meaningful, as the S2 supposedly would be a step up in quality while being equally portable To be precise, he compared the S2 to a Nikon D300 (a late-2007, superseded 12MP crop-factor camera) with a 18-200 consumer-grade lens (really not among the best in Nikon's stable; I know because I owned this very combo myself). To top it off, he shot the images at f/22! I doubt he could have done any worse than that. The image comparison really isn't meaningful in any way, nor does it do the S2 any justice. lct Posted January 17, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 17, 2010 ...How would a rangefinder M9 compare meaningfully to a SLR S2.... The S2 is only 25% larger than the M9 in term of sensor length, sensor height, sensor diagonal and circle of confusion and it doesn't loose more than 20% in terms of DoF. It is very far from a 6x9 or even a 6x6 camera from those standpoints.
