Bo_Lorentzen Posted January 16, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 16, 2010 farbtupfer, you are missing the point, its a genuine S2 file. shot with a real S2 in front of a stack of backdrop paper with a big front light. whats not to like. think Noctilux. Seriously, I don't think these "test" events serve anything practically, Tibor invited me, but I just don't see how Im going to get a feel for the camera in these kind of senarios. I have a couple of shots this spring where I instead figure I will be renting a setup, I will try to time it so I can keep it over the weekend and let the company pay for the rental for the commercial job. that should yield some quality time with the bugger. Besides, Tim have probably already pre-sold me. .
FREDORIDER Posted January 17, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted January 17, 2010 Sorry but the eye is not sharp... the mouth is on your blog... maybe wrong focus..? Farbtupfer, I think what through you of is her hair in the front (even the upper eyelashes) that are out of the DOF. Don't forget there is absolutely no post production, So no sharpening what so ever. Here is the other eye that's more in the DOF area :

wilfredo Posted January 17, 2010 Share #9 Posted January 17, 2010 I had a chance to play with it a bit at Samy's ( http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-s2-forum/112691-s2-samys-camera-l.html ) and wasn't left with a WOW feeling. It will be interesting to watch how this new Leica incarnation fairs. Trading on the Leica name and reputation will only carry Leica so far.

mhoersch Posted January 17, 2010 Share #11 Posted January 17, 2010 The S2 must be the only weather sealed MF camera in the universe that has been made exclusively to demonstrate that one can make sharp pictures of eye lashes.
FREDORIDER Posted January 18, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted January 18, 2010 So did you buy it? No Rob I didn't buy it I'm still shopping around for a Digital medium-format, Hasselblad, Mamiya... and of course, the Leica S2 is an interesting concept that deserve my attention. Ether way, it looks like a starter kit (camera + 2 lenses) will be around 40K So I may just rent all of them at the moment. But to tell you the truth the Leica feels right so far. I like the small size (for a medium), the ergonomic and solid build, look simple and instinctive to use...
