Non Leica lens detection

Has anyone experimented with non Leica lenses and the manual lens detection in camera list? I have a 40mm Voigtlander that I love using. I am trying to remove the vignetting as much as possible in camera. So far the 35mm 1.4 ASPH lens choice seems the best. Any thoughts? Any more definitive comparison lists for non Leica lenses made by anyone?

Yes thats the manual code I use as well. The 40mm is a great 'walk around' lens for the M9 (being small and fast). I adapted mine to bring up the 35mm frame which is pretty accurate (the 35mm frame is on the 'generous' side when using a 35mm lens).

For people using LTM or Voigtlander LTM lenses self codable M adapters are available to give you auto coding. I have just put one on my 21mm Skopar and its a dream not having to go into the menu any more. You just fill the appropriate machined indents with black paint to match the nearest Leica M lens.

I have both a Zeiss 25mm Biogon and a ditto 18mm Distagon. The Biogon is permanently coded as a 25mm Elmarit, and the Distagon as a WATE (the Super-Elmar did not exist when I bought the Distagon -- which was one reason I did buy it!) These codings work very well. There is no discernible red edge effectg with the Biogon, and that with the Distagon is slight; I expect the first firmware update to produce an acceptable fix.
