Advertisement Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Hi Snakepottery, Take a look here M8 serilamnumbers. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
!Nomad64 Posted January 9, 2010 Share #22 Posted January 9, 2010 Thanks all, The camera is advertised on Red Dot so I presume will have warranty. They are on holiday at the moment so can't check till Monday. The price is a bit steep at £1800 though. Luigi, what would a "certain" price be? PM me if you like! Would I get stung for VAT and import tax if I buy from abroad? Anyone know?Andy Mine is 31195213, you can take it for free but only from my cold dead hands and beware of my curse (Tutankhamon was just an amateur) :-) Apart from kidding, used stuff, being used SHOULDN'T be subject to VAT/import tax, but the customs however tend to apply their charges starting from certain declared values. I do not remember exactly which ones. I know because I incurred this inconvenient as I bought via ebay several used computer parts from the US. Within the EU boundaries you shouldn't be subject to this inconvenient. Price of £ 1,800 could be fair if item's really in excellent conditions. I purchased mine in mint conditions in May 2008 with the M9 still to come and paid around £ 2,250 at current Eur/£ exchange rate. After the M9 came out, used M8's prices dropped down (at least in Italy) to £1,350 to 1,650, but after an initial burst, when the shops I usually go had even three or four at a time, now there aren't any more left. ppolla Posted January 9, 2010 Share #23 Posted January 9, 2010 No customs or VAT if it is within Europe....so do not worry.....so from Italy to UK no issues...only postage and insurance. P
Snakepottery Posted January 9, 2010 Author Share #24 Posted January 9, 2010 Thanks all. I'm looking at the M8 in Silver on Buy and Sell from Cyprus. Unfortunately there are no photos and not much of a description so I have asked the seller for pics, when it was purchased and delivery charges. No response yet from him. So, if you're selling a silver m8 on the forum and you come from Cyprus, get back to me!! I may want to give you some money!! Andy
!Nomad64 Posted January 9, 2010 Share #25 Posted January 9, 2010 Before going to Cyprus why don't you search in your home country? :-) http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/market/viewlisting.php?view=1072
Snakepottery Posted January 9, 2010 Author Share #26 Posted January 9, 2010 Actually, I think a trip to Cyprus would be just the job given our current inclement weather!! Ohh, is that yours? I was looking at that one too. But want a silver as I have a silver M6 and just bought a silver 35mm Asph. Even gone as far as thinking I could buy yours and a black lens for it for the same price as the silver M8. Black lenses are easier (and cheaper) to find secondhand too. Maybe a bit too early though? !Nomad64 Posted January 9, 2010 Share #27 Posted January 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry, I didn't notice it was black. And anyway, no, it's not mine. Mine is silver, but not for sale. Cheers, Bruno
ppolla Posted January 9, 2010 Share #28 Posted January 9, 2010 Silver body and black lens go nicely also....
Snakepottery Posted January 9, 2010 Author Share #29 Posted January 9, 2010 Yes, they do go quite well. I suppose I could sell the 35mm ASPH in silver and buy the same in black! probably for the same price too. Silver lens on a black body doesn't go quite so well but I don't think that bad. The best bet would be just to get a black M8 and take pictures and not worry how it looks. After all it's a camera not a fashion accessory!!
