Thanks to the incredible generosity of our own John Thawley I am back in the D2 game! John graciously lent me one of his many Digiluxes for my upcoming trip (no, not one of the pimped out one's. I know someone's going to ask). I was so excited to have a D2 again I went out and tried some night photography. It didn't come out exactly how I envisioned it, but I think it came out pretty interesting. Shot at f6.4 for 8 seconds on a tripod, ISO 100. The second is just me messing around with an SF20 and a Contax off camera cord. Works pretty well, I think. I call it "The Noble Dachshund.":D f 5.6, 1/60, ISO 100 SF20 flash on Manual, set to f5.6 at 1/4 or 1/2 power (can't remember which one). Again, not posting anything super serious, just messing around. I'd have done a little more with the 1st one, but it's like 15 degrees here (farenheit) so I had to work quick! I've got some ideas on how to improve it, so I may try again tomorrow evening.

John is a great photographer and a great guy. He's been very generous with his time answering some of my questions, posting tutorials on his site, etc.; but the offer of one of his beloved DL2s to a fellow forum member is a rather unique act of generosity and trust. He's one of the people that makes this forum special.

I look forward to seeing your vacation pictures.

"The Noble Dachshund."

John is a gentleman! But it does look like the dog is thinking - hm - will it be the chair or my fur being used for pimping this camera before it returns ;)

Of course, my dog would have made wonderful pimping material in the 1960ties

I'm very glad to hear that it worked out for you and huge credit to John for lending one of his precious possessions. :)

The results from this humble camera continue to please, not least my own two, but I'm particularly impressed at how it's so clearly separated the similar tones of the Dachshund's fur and the leather armchair but retained a 'glow' in both.

Pete.

Good to see it all worked out and happy to help. Have fun.
