Advertisement Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Hi Epimetheus, Take a look here CV 35 1.4 for M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Bo_Lorentzen Posted January 9, 2010 Share #22 Posted January 9, 2010 Markus, These are excellent.! Beautiful use of the 35 nokton.! Have bookmarked your blog.! .
Maggie_O Posted January 10, 2010 Share #23 Posted January 10, 2010 Maggie, Your second sample looks to be bang on! (I'm slightly envious because if mine had been this good I'd still have it.) I'm curious: many of your colour shots appear to show quite red skin tones - could that be from the absence of a UV/IR filter (although I not that your photo above shows one on the lens) or another reason? Pee. What can I say? We're a ruddy-faced people! I know it's not from lack of an IR filter, as I've had one on the lens since day one. I think the reddish skin tones have more to do with a combination of the light I find myself shooting in and the way Capture One LE handles color, because I see ruddy faces in photos taken with my other lenses, too. It also probably has to do with my approach to processing- I rarely try to flatter my subjects, so I go for accuracy in rendering instead of pleasing skin tones, and, like I said, we're a ruddy-faced bunch! Maggie_O Posted January 10, 2010 Share #24 Posted January 10, 2010 Epimetheus, those are some lovely frames! Nice work!
lct Posted January 10, 2010 Share #25 Posted January 10, 2010 it was shot through the snow ..not supposed to be clear. I was showing the mood this lens can capture in very low light. Yes it shows it well if your lens is the SC. Very close to the latest pre-asph Summilux but a bit sharper than the latter though. I guess you've got a bit of motion blur as well. Maggie_O Posted January 10, 2010 Share #26 Posted January 10, 2010 Ah, as to the ruddy faces in my color photos- it's a C1 thing: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-post-processing-forum/111111-capture-one-help.html#post1177690 I'll have to keep that in mind when using it. I guess the rest of the family isn't as red-in-the-face as I am right now! Another day, another reason why I am an idiot. Ah, learning.
Bo_Lorentzen Posted January 10, 2010 Share #27 Posted January 10, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maggie, The day we stop learning... is normally the day we stop breathing.! So take a deep breath and carry on. nothing embarrassing here. Great shots BTW. .
Maggie_O Posted January 10, 2010 Share #28 Posted January 10, 2010 Thanks, Bo! I'm always laughing at myself. And like they say on Mythbusters: "Failure is ALWAYS an option!"
Bo_Lorentzen Posted January 10, 2010 Share #29 Posted January 10, 2010 LOL Maggie, I LOVE mythbusters. though I wish they had found the old training 16mm film about filling a REAL ship with ping-pong balls, which my father showed me decades ago.. Jamie have a good way of saying "there is your problem" whenever they blow up a car. Im still jealous that you have a flawless 35mm nokton. .
Maggie_O Posted January 10, 2010 Share #30 Posted January 10, 2010 I'd love to see that 16mm footage, myself! Im still jealous that you have a flawless 35mm nokton. I'm terribly relieved, because I don't think I can afford a 35mm Summilux!
jbgeach Posted January 12, 2010 Author Share #31 Posted January 12, 2010 I have had a hard time deciding between the nocton 1.4 and 1.2, I really can afford either, but what I worry about is the size and weight of the 1.
jbgeach Posted February 8, 2010 Author Share #32 Posted February 8, 2010 I think I am going to go for the 1.4. I want it to be my main lens for my m8 and the 1.2 is just too big. I really want a light compact setup. This will give me the CV 21/4, CV 35/1.4 and 50 mm Summicron. I may add the 75 summarit M someday as well. AbbeyPhoto Posted February 8, 2010 Share #33 Posted February 8, 2010 I've just ordered (today) a CV 21/4 and the 40 Nokton, my main lens is a 28 Summicron so I wanted to extend my range both ways, and also to have one fast last. Considered the 35 Nokton but it was too close to the 28 to be worthwhile. I'm really looking forward to getting the UPS man coming tomorrow. This thread and the various others about the CV lenses were what persuaded me to give them a try.
Maggie_O Posted February 9, 2010 Share #34 Posted February 9, 2010 Another fave of mine from the CV 35/1.4: Mollie, Bowling, Parkway Lanes, May, 2009
morffin Posted February 9, 2010 Share #35 Posted February 9, 2010 True, I didn't notice the blur of the snow, so you were handholding at a slow shutter speed...which would go against the sharpness of the lens... the fact that I could shoot in very low light hand held at a relatively low asa is a big plus for this lens. jbgeach Posted February 12, 2010 Author Share #36 Posted February 12, 2010 After deciding to buy the CV 35 1.4, I found a great deal on a 35 Summicron, so it is now on the way
