I'd go with the 35 or 50 'cron, with the 35 being the 'classic' starter for street/landscape. (well both are actually). Summarits are obviously more affordable but just under a stop slower.

If you're interested in a good comparison of the 'cron & Summarits then take a look at http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/39767-summarit-35-seans-review.html#post417795

Not wishing to sound like a scratched record, but please allow me to add my support for the Summarit 35. I think that it is a beautiful lens which can give wonderful results. If half a stop of speed is not a deal-breaker for you, I'd seriously suggest that you consider one. The same applies to the 50 too.

Since you can afford an M9, and shoot street and landscapes, I should think you would not be satisfied with anything less than a 28mm ASPH, it will do both with no excuses, and probably be the only lens you [really] need.

Assuming you can see all the frame lines in the viewfinder at the same time which I certainly can't, with or without glasses. Not being able to see what you are shooting seems a definite disadvantage.

I would see for yourself first step. You just need the body and select the 28mm frame lines.

The overwhelming majority of forum members have in the past suggested either 35mm or 50mm. The balance 28mm. It is of course entirely a personal preference.

Various members of the forum have commented in the past that the best lens for street photography seems somewhat country/culture dependent in terms of the comfortable photographer-subject distance.
