harryliem Posted January 4, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted January 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Friends, Until today I have not seen any real comments for the X1 yet. Is anyone has the camera yet? Or which country is caring the X1 in the market? To Leica Marketing, when is X1 will be in USA market? In september your CEO mentioned will be in the market sometime before Holiday Seasons. Now the holiday seasons is over. Can anyone give an idea? and I would like to hear a good respond to my concern. Or maybe one of Leica's manager will write an information regarding the production or the available in USA market. Thanks, Harry

Driver8 Posted January 4, 2010 Share #2  Posted January 4, 2010 Hi Friends,Until today I have not seen any real comments for the X1 yet. Is anyone has the camera yet? Or maybe one of Leica's manager will write an information regarding the production or the available in USA market. Thanks, Harry  US dealers received word from Leica that the X1 will be available in February. There are two theories concerning the delay:  1. Leica is way behind in production schedules (the 50mm ASPH Summilux cannot be found anywhere). The ambitious triple launch of the M9, S2, and X1 was probably a bigger bite than the company could chew.  2. Leica is making firmware changes to the X1 to make the camera a little more responsive than pre-production models.

HPS3000 Posted January 4, 2010 Share #4 Â Posted January 4, 2010 4. They hoped for a Christmas 2009 launch - but new in November 2009 that it would be January 2010 until they could ship the X1 ... and informed us by the way - via the official email newsletter. GFONG Posted January 4, 2010 Share #6 Â Posted January 4, 2010 The one reviewed by Steve Huff is the production or pre-production model. Any idea?
jsrockit Posted January 4, 2010 Share #7 Â Posted January 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) You know what, I've made up my mind that I need to just wait to see it for myself. I've seen great reviews for cameras I hate and bad reviews for cameras I like. What it comes down to is do the images look good to my eyes, does it react as I expect, and does it feel right in my hand. Only one of these can be solved via review. peterb Posted January 5, 2010 Share #8 Â Posted January 5, 2010 5. Leica meant to get the camera out by the CHINESE New Year. (Much bigger market.)
Driver8 Posted January 5, 2010 Share #9 Â Posted January 5, 2010 The one reviewed by Steve Huff is the production or pre-production model. Any idea? Â Luminous Landscape, Sean Reid, DP Review, and Steve Huff all used the same model X1 - version 1.0.
GFONG Posted January 5, 2010 Share #10 Â Posted January 5, 2010 Hope that the delay is because Lecia wants to fix the AF problem now instead of upgrading firmware soon. Â After reading Steve's review, it seems that the only complain is the AF speed. If it can fix it before launch, I do believe X1 will sell like a hotcake as the picture quality is as good as M8. Â I wouldn't count on it really... I'm more on the side of the delay being due to M9 production.

barjohn Posted January 8, 2010 Share #13 Â Posted January 8, 2010 Despite announcing a month sooner than Ricoh and claiming to have the first APS-C sensor small body camera, it is still not shipping and the Ricoh GXR/A12 combination is shipping everywhere including here in the US. Â Yeah, I think I prefer when a company announces a few weeks before a product is ready to go than months. Leica did themselves a dis-service with the early announcement IMHO. h00ligan Posted January 8, 2010 Share #15 Â Posted January 8, 2010 agreed - announcing a cam early + late production issues = delayed launch and frustrated customers.

jsrockit Posted January 9, 2010 Share #17 Â Posted January 9, 2010 Well, I decided to buy an M8 instead of waiting for the X1 a few months ago... and now, I am thinking of the X1 as my second camera... to take all over with me. A win / win for Leica.
